I have new tyres (need to reset the deflation warning calibration again though as the fiddling about has upset it), have disposed of a sack of plastic, and bought random stuff in the supermarket. And had a nap on the sofa. So Stinky has his present for his friends at the vet (just waiting for one thing to arrive on Thursday), and I need to start packing all the others up to see what else I might need to get. 

I've also had a nap on the sofa and a cuddle with the cat. 

Watty - his paw is much better, but there's still an open/bleeding bit on the surface. I know dogs' paws heal from the inside, and that it's OK as long as it isn't infected, but it's a PITA keeping it clean and dry at the moment. And I'd like him to be able to run about in the garden while I can't go for long walks. He's being very good about house arrest, and has been dozing/playing with his toys fairly quietly while I've been lying on the sofa.

I've remembered to order replacement water filter cartridges.

Tomorrow I need to put my brother on my car insurance for the holidays. 

Cold outside, and for some reason all the animals (like me) are a bit off their food. Possibly (like me) lack of exercise.

Neighbours' outside light was on for ages last night so sent them a fairly short whatsapp reminding them how intrusive it is along with a photo. I raised it in September and they've done nothing - excuse this time is that 'wiring is complicated so it's difficult to move'. I need to compose a reasonable response rather than 'well in that case disconnect it and use a torch'. And decide how long to leave it before reporting it as nuisance lighting. It shines straight into the house, lighting up the whole garden. Given that the garden is about 200ft long, that feels pretty impressive. 

I've also measured in the utility room and garage and should be able to get a catflap installed between the two without having to move any cupboards/pipes. So relocation of the cat loos can go ahead in the NY - as soon as I can persuade the builders to come over and make a hole in the wall for it. Given the size of the cats I might order a large cat flap... although they do still seem to fit through the standard sized ones quite happily (although obviously they prefer staff to open doors or windows for them). 

Pet laundry needs doing. So does people laundry. Dog needs a short walk and a bit of outside time. Christmas cards need writing and posting. But most importantly, paperwork needs doing for hospital.

Ugh .... I feel your pain about neighbours' outside lights. We deliberately moved to the country for darkness (amongst other things) and a neighbour close to us has a light on all night every night (they were burgled, badly, a couple of years ago, so I don't feel able to say anything) - its so hard on the eyes when trying to look at the night sky, get used to seeing in moonlight etc. That light your neighbour has sounds worthy of a prison camp!

I think cats believe that house should have no doors whilst still being absolutely draft proof and cosy-warm. They can't understand why Hoomans haven't sorted it yet! 🙄🤣

Have you told your neighbours that bright lights are actually helpful to burglars as they create shadows to hide in? I think I'll reply suggesting they try some armoured cable to lower it, and that I can give them details of a good electrician if they need one, asking for timescales to resolve it and requesting that they ask everyone in their household to be more considerate or disconnect it until they can fix it. And get going with the planting plan... 

Dog says it's time to go out, so I guess I should get dressed and at least take him as far as the poo bin so I can dispose of last night's and this morning's deposits!

Could you put up a strategically placed mirror...? there are all sorts of garden mirror type things available now, but I've no idea whether the placement would be easy to pass off as "Oh goodness me, it reflects into your garden? How strange, that hadn't even occurred to me!" or whether it would just look overly ar53y.

Sadly the angles are such that neither a mirror nor balls would work. It's high up on their gable end (top of first floor/bottom of attic), at almost 90 degrees to the boundary at the end of my garden around 200ft away. 

I've done the paperwork for the hospital (need to finish the last bit and send the email), so I can think about a suitable response to their last message. But I don't think it's unreasonable to a. ask for timescales b. ask them to not use it/disconnect it until they've resolved it (and make clear to other family members that they shouldn't use it) c. send a link to armoured cable that could be used to lower it to ground floor level d. send details of an electrician who would be able to solve it (I know they wouldn't pay for one though, they're big on DIY and bodging things). 

If I don't get a satisfactory response then I'll submit details to the council. 

I think I've removed all identifiable elements from this - which is what it looks like from my kitchen. What you can see on the left is the same light showing through my left-hand neighbours' garden. So I'm not the only person suffering.
