The annoyance factor is always worth considering! UFH controllers should be pretty simple to change, so it's just a question of getting ones that have an app. They may not integrate with your existing heating controls (the reason I have a Heatmiser system is its one of the few that does wet or electric radiators and UFH (it also does fan convectors). The door/window sensors that switch the heating off when trades leave the doors open, and the (very expensive) smart plugs (which also act as mesh network repeaters for the system) are an added bonus. Having said that, I'm not a massive fan of it overall, but with such a (stupidly) complex heating setup there wasn't much choice!4

I have moved my bedroom radiator to another external wall & now have full length curtains where the radiator was. It has definitely made a difference. It isn't a money saving thing but it is certainly a comfort thing & has removed a cold spot.

A couple of years ago when my parents bought their house they changed most of radiators and moved them from under windows, they now have full length curtains. The new ones are tall and narrow, more like a standard radiator standing on its end, this has left much more wall space for arranging the furniture without the radiator being behind. Where an occasional table stands in front of the radiator, the majority of the radiator is above the table.Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent

that 2024 done list was v impressive, you seem determined to surpass it this yearDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

@Baileys_Babe do you know where your parents got them from? We are looking for tall thin, standard (ie not ‘designer’) rads and have struggled to find them anywhere. The designer ones have absolutely dire efficiency and we’re trying to improve the heat situation, so they are no use to us whatsoever, but try to search for tall radiators and it’s all you find!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

@themadvix we've got tall tubular ones in the kitchen/diner which our sellers had installed. I was massively concerned when we moved in that they would be terrible, but we've been astonished at how good they are, particularly allowing we just have two of them in what is a very large space!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
