I think I'm ready... well, not really as zooplus/Evri still can't tell me when the order will arrive (in 2-3 days from it arriving in the UK), and the last couple of barriers can't go up until I have someone here who is competent with a drill (tomorrow).

But - a neighbour has lent me an emergency crate, a cousin has lent me a puppy prison (the cats have been using it, so the old duvets I'm using for bedding will smell lovely), the kitchen is clearer than it has been since I moved in, as is the hall, and I have located bowls. I also have food, a few toys, a collar and lead. And a neighbour visiting later to make sure I'm surviving. I even found the instruction book last night, but everyone assumes puppies arrive at 8-10 weeks. There are no instructions for an older, semi-feral puppy!

Better feed cats, grab some food myself, and head off.

Someone gifted me a book called "second hand dog how to turn yours into a first rate pet"  when I got a GSD that was just under a year and had no training. I was really struggling with him and the book helped.

It must be a good book @Watty1 - £32 plus postage on amazon!

He was very good in the car, is pretty good on a lead (impressive given he hasn't been on one before), inhales his food, and is pretty well behaved in the crate and pen. A friend came over and he sat for her and was quiet and good while she was here. We've been for another walk and he's sat for treats half a dozen times. But.. hasn't done another wee or a poo since he arrived (did a wee on arrival, but that's it). I need to work out what time he needs to go.

From the sounds of things he's hunting for any missing treats in his pen.

One cat is curious and keeps watching him from a distance. The other has pretty much moved out.

Puppy seems to be settling OK. One cat is still keeping a close eye on him - the other has moved from outside to my bed. Puppy stinks (has been living outside in sawdust with the rest of the litter) and needs a bath. He also farts a lot, so I need to order charcoal to add to his food!

I'm already shattered... but need to keep taking him out regularly until 10ish, and then keep an ear out during the night. Particularly as he hasn't done a poo yet 💩!

Having spent the afternoon and evening waiting for the puppy to do a poo, it's nearly bedtime. One more walk round the garden and then I'll head off to bed.

Have a quote for the next phase of electrical work - not cheap but it's adding sockets, moving the incoming broadband and flood wiring the house for internet access as the wifi is flaky due to the number of outside walls that are inside.

Must remember I have a 7.30am work call (only work tomorrow, technically I have the day off), then 9.30am vet. Then the stinky puppy can hopefully have a bath.

Cats say it's bedtime, so I guess the puppy and I should have that last walk and I'll then keep my fingers crossed that he sleeps through until a civilised hour with no accidents!

Blimey, as if you don't have enough to do, a puppy as well :)
    Photos are required!!!!
If you get stuck for a walker / holiday cover at anytime, I could be convinced to come over and help out, in exchange for puppy cuddles!

    Hope it all goes well.

Your posts reminded me that WattyDog was also taught the "pee pee poo poo" command.  My last dog knew it too.  I've never used it since WattyDog has been back with me but it was useful when he was younger.  A more refined friend used "hurry up" and another "toilet"  Just say it when they are doing the business and give a treat.
It is useful when going out and having to leave and want to be sure that the dog understands you are sending them out for a toilet break before leaving.  Or before a long car journey.

Anyway good luck with pup.  Hope the night was peaceful.
