I've cleared the garden stuff out of the garage and into the shed and greenhouse (so effectively just relocated the problem!) and found a bucket and tea-light holder in the garden that I might use in the house/on the porch. Cotoneaster and pyracantha cut for the porch so far.
Dog has been walked, and played with a friend which was lovely. He managed to run out of his wellies, but although his paw bled a little, the cut isn't opening up anymore.
It's misty outside, and damp, but hopefully nice enough to get the narcissi in the ground - as well as the random bulbs dug up from the garden last year shoved in somewhere in the veg plot for decoration.
Annoyingly I've had to come in for a lie down after all that activity, so I'm just waiting to feel a bit better before I go out and dig some holes for the narcissi. Then it's a decision as to whether I attempt to reset the tyre pressure calibration again - in which case I might drive over to my mum's and back as that should be far enough to work out whether there is a problem or not.0 -
Bulbs are in. Including the old ones from the greenhouse that I don’t like - they’re in a corner of the veg plot. The ground is lovely and soft and bulb planting on the edge of the orchard was easy… it’s tempting to order more…
Still nice outside, so I might go out and clear the greenhouse as well as cutting more greenery.1 -
Greenhouse is cleared (well, the plants were cut back and composted - the pots and spent compost are still there until I get round to mulching the flowerbeds). Lots of greenery was cut down and dumped on the porch. More lights were put up and decorations tweaked inside. Managed to wrap a couple of presents and establish that I need a couple more bits.
Stinky woke us up at 2.30am barking furiously - thought he needed to go out, but when I opened the door there were muntjac barking close by. He went out and came straight back in and went to bed.
Today involved a chat with a friend, then over to my mum's to reset the tyre pressure sensors, take the mobility aids my neighbour borrowed back, and have a look at her programmable wifi sockets which haven't worked since BT 'upgraded' her internet and hub. Established that the sockets won't work so ordered new ones, and brought some presents back ready to start packing the car. Then added my brother to my car insurance, took Stinky for a second walk, saw a neighbour who kindly let me have half a jam jar of milk so I don't have to go and buy any for the friends coming for coffee tomorrow. And then decorated the porch with the two barrowloads of greenery and berries that I'd dumped on there. It looks good, but probably won't last if the wind blows! I'm also making dog lick mats and kongs and freezing them as we'd run out and will need some to take with us.
Tomorrow we have friends coming for coffee/a walk in the morning, then I need to do a few last bits of shopping and laundry and packing. No clue what to take, but there won't be much room once the dog's stuff and presents are in! I'd quite like to make some pastry and bake at least one batch of mince pies to give to people/take with us too. But that might be overly ambitious.3 -
Stinky has lived up to his name today, but rolling (thankfully only his neck) in something unspeakable which from the smell of it, appears to be of human origin. He's had two baths (camomile dog shampoo, washing up liquid, lavender dog shampoo), and the WM is full of the first batch of towels and my leggings, while his dog bag, my top, and another towel are waiting to go in the WM. I've had a shower too. But I think he might still smell...
Lunch has been eaten (by both cats, Stinky, and me), and now I want to try to get rid of my stress headache. So another coffee and a bit of time on the sofa are on the cards before I attempt anything else on my list (dealing with house plants, packing, making pastry, making mince pies, ironing, putting the bins out, cards for neighbours etc).

Ewww to Stinky and whatever human his rolling matter originated from 👃🏼💩0

It was grim. And having had several cold baths using the hose, he's keeping a very low profile. I need to go out and pack up the hose and bring in the dog shampoo once my headache is shifted. And send the robot round the sitting room again, as it didn't do a very good job this morning!1

Naughty stinky 🤣 I remember my little doggo rolling in fox poo once 😫ahh the smell! I can still remember it. Tomato ketchup the neighbours said...I laughed and ignored it thinking it was a joke 😂 by about ten pm that night I gave him another bath and tried it and it did work! These animals eh...lol
Your neighbours light is awful can you complain to the council about it? Our neighbour also has one and for some bizarre reason it lights up our garden rather than theirs?!! And it's triggered by rain, wind and foxes mostly 🙈 so on and off all evening!Emergency Fund- £717.77

Bless dear Stinky ... next time a plumber is around how about an outside hot shower? (I have a gas one set up in a barn which is very useful for these situations!)Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!1 -
An outside hot shower is on the list @Watty1! I've worked out where the old utility room sink was, the rising main, and the old outside tap - so there should be hot and cold water, and drainage outside the utility room. It'll be useful for washing cat litter trays too.
DFW - I did wonder about ketchup, but he's looking SO sad I can't face giving him another bath... unless my mum tells me he smells when she arrives (and even then, I think it would have to be tomorrow morning as it's cold and dark now and he is NOT going in the bathroom!).
Neighbours claim they are going to try to sort the light. I need to message them to ask for an ETA (and make a couple of suggestions as they claim the wiring is complicated - armoured cable is an option, as is an electrician). If it's not sorted in a few weeks I'll report it as we're in a dark skies area. Which clearly my garden isn't benefitting from.
Still trying to get rid of my headache. I have a few more kongs to make up, the fridge to sort out, and my packing to do. Stinky should have had a second walk but it's too dark now. And he's hiding in his bed in case I give him another bath.2 -
