DFW Daily Chat thread WEDS 10th Oct

Morning all and welcome to the daily DFW chat thread!!
How's everyone this fine () Morning...

I'm feeling more together today and ready to take on the world... unfortunately I had my share of 3 bottles of wine with MIL last night so am feeling slightly delicate :rotfl: as we went to a meals with mediums thing at a local carvery ..

The car is in another garage so fingers crossed they can sort something....

How's everyone doing today?

  • I'm ok, have DD off today as she had a raging fever yesterday (although she seems as right as rain now, lol) so we are having a lazy day-got loads to do-laundry, ironing, cleaning dog pee off the carpet-the usual.

I think another thread was started for today lower down but the dates got a bit mixed up (nice to see there is others like me out there!)-can we join the threads together?

Like you much better. I've been eating well and have loads more energy. Although our boiler has decided not to work properly for the 3rd time in 3 weeks. So I am currently at work waiting for a call to tell me to rush home!

Last night we had really HOT radiators when the heating was switched OFF!! Go figure on that one!

I've been in work for over an hour already, to avoid Max & Paddy taking the lounge window out.....am having to take the day off on Friday to clean the house up! Luckily the spare-room curtain rail stayed up, so I didn't have to sleep in the attic :D

It's quiet in here, which is a good thing as I've got 6hrs of minutes to type up, so won't be posting much til later.

IA - hope the car gets better quick, along with your head!

Have a good day everyone, see you later

  • Bad news, the MAN-FLU is now rampaging

Not only have I still got a scratchy throat, but also a faint voice, emphatic sighing and a bit of a cough

I'm thinking of setting up a support group

However, I did get my final wage from my previous company today, which was obscenely more than it should be and also can be used to begin chipping away at the CitiCard debt...but y'know....IF I make it through the day

Well my OH is at home in bed for the 2nd day, coughing and spluttering. I feel rotten too but staying in bed is not an option for me unfortunately!!

Had a horrible row last night too. I've been trying to explain why we need to cut back financially but it's not going down too well. OH seems oblivious to what has been going on credit cards for the 3 years he hasn't been working and obviously thinks that the shopping fairy has been delivering all our food

He has a mental health condition and working is difficult for him, but he's now been in full time employment for nearly 4 months and I'm so proud of him. But he says me harping on about money makes him feel pressured into not losing his job and he can't cope with it.

So basically I have to deal with it all without telling him what's going on and pretend everything is just fine and dandy.

Well, it's manageable at the moment. If he just carries on doing what he's doing and pays for the food on a Sunday I can cover everything else. Then he's got his £500 a month in his bank account to play with. He wants to buy a computer. Because he only has two at the moment. But if I tell him no, we can't afford it, he'll go off on one again....

I can actually handle ALL of that because it's what I'm used to, but what REALLY grates is him then having a go at me for doing so much overtime so he never gets to see me!!!! The overtime is what's going to make the difference in getting us debt-free.

I think in future I'm just going to shut up and get on with it. One day he'll realise what lengths I've gone to to get us financial straight!!!!!!!

Sorry for ranting. I feel calmer now!!! ;)

ODonnell boy, poor you. Yes I think you should set up a support group. My husband could join it (if his ramaging pneumonia doesn't kill him). He didn't seem to appreciate my advice to either get over it or die quietly before I kill him!!!!!

    JoeHel,

Wayne was just as bad (the arguments we'd have ). For my sanity I've found the best way for us is for me to sit down with him on a weekly basis and talk - tell him how things are financially, what I'm paying and to whom. I'm not shouting, I'm not blaming and he's not getting defensive and argumentative. 5 minutes later and the discussion is over - he knows I'm looking after the money, I know he now knows about our finances but no arguments. Getting to this stage has been an eye-opening journey:rolleyes:

Persevere and try to stay calm (having a dart board to relieve the stress is also good)!!!
