If you both are so concerned with what you think is a company committing fraud why don't you go and contact them or HMRC?

No one even mentioned fraud, just the fact your “UK company” is likely simply a shop front for an HK company.
Even if they are a HK company they commit no offence selling to UK residents, though the UK resident could be committing tax evasion when buying from them.
Out of interest, if your phone came from a “UK company” why was there any mention of import duty/vat and why was any paid (even a partial payment)?====0
