Is there some other form of identification in your name which might be acceptable to the supermarket?
e.g. utility bill, council tax bill ?0 -
They have put me on hold until a further position is available and I asked if I got myself a driving license would that help her answer was no0

Ask what they do require to progress your application into employment.Don’t be a can’t, be a can.0

Rather than spending all this time and effort with birth certificates would it not be easier just to buy a provisional driving licence really?...0

I've just been through the questionnaire for "if you have the right to work in the UK"
This is what you need:
They need to show both:- an official letter or document from a government agency (eg HM Revenue and Customs, Department for Work and Pensions, or the Social Security Agency in Northern Ireland) or previous employer, showing their name and National Insurance number
- a full birth or adoption certificate (that shows details of at least one of the birth or adoptive parents)
Do you have any government documentation?
BTW the penalty for employing someone who you aren't 100% sure about is up to 5 years in prison and unlimited fine. I'm sure you're British and have the right to work but you can understand no employer taking ANY chances with such stringent penalties...0 -
If you're not planning to learn to drive, then a passport would be a more effective way of proving your right to work in the UK in future. A driving licence will never establish your RTW.Signature removed for peace of mind0

Why did you change your name to your married name by deed poll??
Please, once you get a copy of the certificate, keep it with your birth and marriage certificates. You will probably need it to apply for a passport, even for a driving licence.
All they are asking for is proof of identity. You changed your name so you need evidence for that. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -
I'm confused by this narrative.
Nobody's marriage certificate has their married name on it. If you are Miss A marrying Mr B henceforth to be known as Mrs B, you sign your marriage certificate in the name of A and are described in it as Miss A
Why did you need a deed poll? Was this because you changed your name before or after you actually married? If your current name is the same as the name on the marriage certificate I don't see why that wouldn't have been accepted. I didn't have any problems recently when I changed jobs although I think I did have to show photo ID at the interview too so perhaps the problem you are having is the lack of passport and driving license more than the loss of the deed poll.0 -
Employers do not have to accept the bare minimum of proof.
I have recently been asked for 4 pieces of identification, including 2 photographic and 2 paper documents.0
