White one is poverty spec. Diesel could be an issue if it has a dpf filter and you don't do much m way driving.
  • White one is lower spec and I'd be worried about how few miles it had done for a car 8 years old. The red one for me.

It only did 460 miles between 2016/17; no reason to be negative tho.

Personally I'd go with the diesel, soooo much cheaper to run & tax, plus it's several hundred cheaper to start with**

**obviously dependant on the condition of both...

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
  • Are you going to spend more time sitting in the car driving it, or standing on the pavement looking at it? I assume that its the first if so go for the cheaper one with the better engine.
  • White one. It's on a Vx plate which often means it was supplied as a Renault/Nissan 'friends and family' car - normally well looked after. It's petrol, less to go wrong.

That 1.5dCI can be a nightmare if not looked after - compare the spotless MOT history of the white one with the chequered history of the diesel and one has been cared for, one less so.

The diesel's been run on a shoestring, with part worn tyres fitted, tyres worn to death, service lights left on at MOT (probably due to late or non-existent servicing), etc.

However, the sensible answer would be to buy a Honda Jazz or something.

I've just looked through the MOT history and noticed how many advisories the red one keeps piling up. The front brake disc is currently worn for example - how much will that cost?

    I'm so torn. :(

There are more than two cars for sale out there you know?

The cost of changing brake discs is pretty low but take the MOT history as an indication of how the cars been treated, if it consistently has issues flagged up each year you can bet it will continue to have these crop up in the future.

It's not that so much as the fact that it's had fail after fail, advisory after advisory.

It's not been looked after - with the 1.5dCI that's a recipe for disaster.
  • I know you asked for no comments along the lines of "neither 'cos it's French", but I'm going to stick my neck out as say "neither 'cos it's French". Honestly, there are loads of decent used cars out there. Buy something German, Japanese or South Korean.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
