If you get nowhere, it’s worth considering legal action against the dealership. They will hate the potential adverse publicity. Likewise one of the national papers love stories like this.
A few years ago (1970s) a customer of the company I worked for bought a British car instead of the Japanese ones he normally bought. It had a whole load of faults that neither the dealership nor the MD of the manufacturer were interested in. He got a double page spread in the paper and a full refund a few days later!0
