Women's clothes sizes
Comments
-
So in summary:
They ("the powers that be of fashion"/wizards/whatever) have changed what measurements constitute what clothing size so that a tiny fraction of the female population are now a size 4 or 6 (American size 0 or 2 I believe). The tiny fraction are happy. However as a consequence of this anyone an 8 or above sees their clothing size go further up the chart, we reach further back on the "smallest to largest size" ordered rail. This makes us feel bad about ourselves, we are sad and our self esteem drops. "Nevermind" say the powers that be, "we'll rack you all up 5 cup sizes, that'll boost your collective ego".
Oh good, glad that's cleared up. I may be an amateur sportswoman with a low body fat and now wearing a T-shirt designated "medium" by some brands; but at least the label on the inside of my underwear tells me I'm a rival to Katie bleedin' Price.0 -

Unless you used to wear 40" bras, it is unlikely to be the new system.
I'm assuming it's a brand that uses the old system.
It was Debenhams.
I had no idea until I read this thread that somebody had resized bras.
What a confusing mess.
Does anyone know how many companies have adopted this system?
M&S?
Floozy?
Triumph?
Janet Reger?
All the major bra brands?0 -
What! Bras have changed? When did this happen?0

Likewise, I feel like I've missed a meeting somewhere...
Now I come to think of it, two female relatives have reported back to me over the last 18 months that they've had a professional fitting and gone from a C to an E in one case, and an A to a C in another. I've kind of ignored it because nothing fits me properly anyway because I am such a small size...
In an attempt to answer the "when" question I've come across a website called brabandproject. That is quite a revelation.0 -
I have just booked myself a bra fitting for my week off next month - ladies there is an online booking system on the M&S website if anyone else is feeling as jolly confused as I am!0

alternatively you can just live in sports bras as i do :rotfl:CCCC #33: £42/£240
DFW: £4355/£44050 -

That's what I've been doing mostly since nothing was comfortable. I just assumed it was because A cup bras were rubbish!
Incidentally, M&S also have a bra calculator on their site. My result was not quite as hair raising as booborbust but still a tremendous difference.0 -

My wife had a fitting there a couple of years ago but nothing they could offer fitted properly. They don't/didn't really cater for small backs and relatively large cups. She wasn't impressed and went over the road to Bravissimo where they do. Pricey though.
Incidentally, M&S used the old system then.0 -

Not sure how small a back and how relatively large a cup but they do 30G.0 -

My sports bras are the same size as my normal bras. Some are underwired, some aren't.
They are comfortable but they are designed not to allow much 'bounce' at all.
I'd certainly not like to 'live in them'.0
