I hope the scan didn't show anything to worry about, and was straightforward Mrs MP.
    Exactly what HB said, mrs-mp.

Kelpie has learned to jump the barrier at the bottom of the stairs. This is a disaster of immense proportions ... so I've got to ...find another way of restricting his movement.

    Shower room.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!! Poor Kelpie! (I know you wouldn't really, HB)

Rosie has had a walk and is now thoroughly disgruntled because she got wet. Wrong attitude for a descendant of a Carpathian mountain sheepdog, I know... She will soon cheer up with all the treats in class!

every time I open a cupboard for any reason, at least three things have to be decluttered. I'm sick to death of moving stuff about; it has to GO

That is such a good idea - why didn't I think of that?!

So far I have wet washing hanging in the utility room (more of a utility nook than room, so that's now impassable without doing the Wet Washing Shimmy), kitchen and dining room floors swept and mopped, kitchen surfaces wiped, random veg cut up to make piccalilli. I have bagged up the remianing runners to take into work tomorrow. Bizarrely, just having piles of runners in the fridge has been stressing me out - only I could get stressed by a bean! Now that I have made a note to remember to take them into the office tomorrow, I don't feel bad that they might go to waste.

I've made a couple of phone calls about getting workmen in to sort the current most disastrous area of the house. Very stressful as I hate making calls, and also because I now have to cancel one of them because when I spoke to the second one, the first one really was extracting the michael. DH won't be happy but he needs to start realising that he can't do everything. That's an argument I'm not looking forward to.

On the plus side, DD seems much better, so she'll be back to school tomorrow. As she fancied a bacon buttie for lunch, I am keeping her company. Just while the kitchen floor dries, you understand...:p
  • Donnajt, it's amazing what you can achieve by just breaking each room / mountain of gibble down into bite-sized chunks and accepting that it won't all be perfect in a day, a week or even in my case a year. That's fine; working on it is what makes the difference. Well done for keeping going last week and selling stuff. In the end I decided I couldn't face another carboot sale and took the whole lot down to the CS. They were very grateful for it.

Shower room, two bedrooms and stairs to them done, and I've cleared the kitchen of gibble, washed the dusters, got three loads through the WM and pegged them out. That's enough for one day.

Just had lunch, now a quick shower and off to big hospital for my last ever smear - having an abnormal one years ago saved my life, so I'm a big believer in the screening programme, but even I didn't know they are discontinued from age 65 unless you specifically request one. Got to be back by 5.00 pm when the two new lodgers will be arriving.
    Better is good enough.

Thank you for the list Natty (and Valli for last week). Hello to everyone.

I need to stay with it this week as the house is actually a tip. So here's my list with a few added essential extras...

  • Today is not going so well not had breakfast so thought for lunch a couple of low fat sausages with some beans and a slice of toast put sausage in the oven and went to Iron the sofa covers i tuck of to wash last week and get them back on. Dropped Iron when hot on the rug rug is ok but black marks all over the bottom of Iron only add it a week. then smoke alarm started going off so looks like oven needs cleaning and baked beans splattered all over microwave. I have really bad pain in my head and can not find the only pane killers that help. There was one good thing this morning i could not resist popping on scales I know you should only get weighed once a week and I should wait for Thursday but just had to do it and 2lb off so that as motivated me to stick with it. Hope everyone is having a better day and now I have add a moan will go back and face it all.

Theoretically, I should be able to catch up with myself this week, because I have no dog here til Saturday.

Unfortunately, I have zero motivation, because I have no dog here til Saturday.

If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)
  • Thanks Honeybear and Iona , I'm sure I'm fine it was an ultrasound as I've got a bit of a swelling on the right sort of below ribs, not any pain just a weird not quite right feeling. I'll hear from Drs with results later this week they said after the scan. Hopefully just something I'll be told it's safe to ignore.
Been work, had a quick tidy round here and dr has rung with mils warfarin list for the week so I'm going to nip round hers fill her pill box and plant the daff s bulbs that dd2 bought her for her birthday.

Catch up with you all again later.

Not really keeping up with thread, seem to spend a lot of time clearing up the newly-insulated loft and under eaves. The dust and debris defies description. Sure there must be calories burned crawling across rafters, climbing up and down loft ladder and carting bags of rubbish.
A rest tomorrow as I'm on a course in London- expensive and boring but necessary for CPD as my assessor's certificate is due for renewal in April. Uni are being slow giving work; useful as I'm busy at home but money would be great.
Did our last animal-feeding run this morning; will miss them but not the journey.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Quite a productive day so far. Cleaned 3x sinks and loos plus a bath. Tidied kitchen and wiped round. Dusted and swept downstairs. Swept furries cage. Returned library books. Visited ATM. Did some reading for college.

Plan is to have fish n chips for tea - if stepdad comes with micro-bairn:p he's home alone with baby so invited him for tea. If not, we'll have something from the freezer as ds friend is here and I don't have an extra car seat. Better drop him a text...

Forgot to empty WM - off I go...
