I think it's anything wrapped but can you please confirm for me that I can pack food in my suitcase? We are flying from stansted to Lanzarote with Ryan air. I've tried googling but cannot find anything for suitcases.
I'd like to take cheddars, crisps etc. But can you take drink? Marmite? Cheese?

As long as you don't break the import rules of the country you're going to taking food in checked luggage isn't a problem. You can buy crisps and cheese in Lanzarote, and there's no shortage of drink lol.0

Although lanzarote isnt part of the eu from a customs perspective it is deemed as intra eu for food stuffs, therefore you can import what you want, as long as its fit for humam consumptionLive each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0

I presume you mean a checked in suitcase not one you are taking as hand luggage.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Yes, to check in.
It's our first trip abroad with our kids and it will be lunch time when we arrive. I didn't want to start by dragging them off to find food and drink. If we can pack a little lunch we can eat first, and shop next!
So, can we pack drink... meaning Ribena cartons etc?0 -

Yes. But you have a leakage risk, especially if the carton bursts as the result of the change in air pressure or unsubtle baggage handling.
I'd recommend against it.
If you do take liquids wrap them several times. Pad them in cheap clothing and ensure any electrical items are protected against being affected by any leak.
Water will be available in the airport arrivals hall on landing.0 -

Personally I wouldnt bother, unless you are in the middle of nowhere, shops are plentiful.
packing liquid in checked baggage is asking for trouble re leakage
your kids will be too excited to worry about food and drink, and going out to get it will be an adventure0 -
Take snacks for them eat on the plane. Avoid Ryanair prices.
You could have a meal before leaving the airport. Much better quality and less expensive than Stanstead.

Good point re leakage. We're up quite early so will have breakfast at stanstead (I know, prices!). We'll pro ably buy drink once we've gone through security then. I just know that it'll be about 12 when we get to our villa and the thought of dragging tired hungry kids out to buy water fills me with dread!0

I wouldn't pack liquids. As has been said, there's plenty of shops in the resorts and if you're staying in a village they all have at least one supermarket as well. Instead of dragging them out once you've arrived at the villa just stop on the way, and tell them in advance that's what you'll be doing. Take something to eat on the flight and buy water airside at Stansted, and then they won't be starving when they arrive. I'd also be careful taking perishables. They're a long time without refrigeration, and that's without any delays. The children will be so excited they'll be running on adrenaline. It's more likely the adults that will feel tired!0
