Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I have sad news unfortunately, the furry moron died in the night
. I had a horrible feeling that he might and I didn't wan't to go into the living room this morning to find out. He looked peaceful at least. He was only six, but Rex rabbits only live for five to six years so he was an old rabbit. But he seemed in excellent health up until yesterday . The illness was obviously too much for him at his age.
DS1 is very upset and DH and I have been feeling very upset too. I didn't expect to feel so sad but everytime I think about it I start crying
. He was such a little character and he'd lived in our living room for six years.
We haven't told DS3 yet as he gets up late and won't tell DS2 unless he asks after him. It's not nice giving him bad news when he's abroad
.
I thought I wouldn't be this upset because the big cage in the living room used to annoy, me as did the sawdust all over the carpet, and I hated having to clean him out. But I feel really sad now

Sorry to hear about the furry moron HH.

He might "only" have been a rabbit (why do people say things like that when you've lost a pet? They're not "only" anything if they mean something to you) but he was still part of your family & daily life, you do get so attached to pets. You're bound to feel sad about losing him.

Really sorry to hear about your little 'furry moron', HH. He will be very sadly missed. Animals have a way of sneaking into your heart that makes their shorter lifespans hard to deal with.
It sounded as if he had a good rabbitty life, and was well cared-for xxx0 -
We've buried him in the garden. We've buried two rabbits we had previously and several guinea pigs in our garden, but I feel much more sad about the furry moron. It's because he lived in our living room for six years and so we got to know him very well
.
We've put his cage in the garden for now as it made us feel sad to look at the empty cage. We'll probably take it to the recycling centre as we don't want to get another rabbit or guinea pig. When we have a stable income maybe we could think about a cat, but we'll have to think about it then, if that day ever comes. It's so upsetting to lose a pet that I don't know if I want to keep putting myself through it

Thank you Elizabeth. He did have a very good life. He was warm indoors, always had company, and was free to run around the living room in the daytime, so he was a very lucky rabbit in many ways. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
