    CHRISTMAS SAVINGS = £0/£500. SEF = £1,400/£12,000 PREMIUM BONDS ME = £350. PREMIUM BONDS DH = £300.
HOLIDAY MONEY = £0 TIME LEFT TO PAY OFF MORTGAGE = 5 YEARS 1 MONTHS
  • When we got home I put some clothes on to wash and then hung them in the garden, put another wash on, emptied all the bins in the house, sorted out four rubbish bags that DH got from DS2's room and disposed of them in our wheelie bins.

After that I weeded the front garden because it was full of weeds and it's been bugging me for ages. It looks a lot nicer now :T.

So despite it being a hot and humid day, I've got quite a lot done. I'm going to try and relax now.

Plans for tomorrow include washing and ironing my work trousers, ironing all my summer tops, and cleaning out the furry moron.

In good news we've had the insurance money paid into our account to cover the painting of the kitchen. We've been thinking about it though and have decided to paint the kitchen ourselves. We will use part of the money to buy paint and stain blocker but will do the labour ourselves. We'll use the rest of the money to get a new back gate and frame installed in our garden as ours is rotting away. There will also be enough money to pay for a fence along the top of our back wall. This would give us privacy from the back lane, which would mean we could chop down the hedge which is the bane of my life as it grows about a foot a week in the summer and which casts shade onto all the plants in the border. It seems a better use of the money.

I'm impressed you got so much done on a really hot day. You must be made of hardy stuff !!
It sounds a very sensible use of the insurance money. You've mentioned your need for a fence, and it should last a good long time. Also painting is relatively easy, but installing a fence is more specialised work.

Latest silly game with DGS report!
This is called 'Pass the balloon'. I hold 2 balloons initially. DGS takes one and runs round the lounge shouting something indecipherable. When he gets back he swaps the balloon for the other and runs off again.......repeat for long amount of time. After a while we alternate the shrieking, to the point that DH and DD2 wonder just which one is the child !!!
Well, it's never too late to have (another) happy childhood !

Thanks Elizabeth :). I took plenty of breaks inbetween. I do feel a bit tired today though.

Your game with DGS sounds great fun, he must love his visits :D.

  • Happy Sunday everyone :).

Today I've put two clothes horses of summer clothes in the garden to dry, ironed five work tops, folded up some clean laundry and put some towels on to wash. That doesn't sound like much but I feel tired now. This afternoon I need to muck out the furry moron.

DH ironed two pairs of work trousers for me :smileyhea and is hard at work on DS2's room again. DS2 comes back from Mexico on Wednesday :) so DH is running out of time to sort his room out. He's reached the hole in the wall now and is going to fill it with metal mesh and then ready mix plaster. Hopefully that will be one less mouse entrance!

Once we put all of DS2's belongings back into his room the downstairs of the house will look a bit tidier at least. I haven't found a home for all of DS3's uni belongings yet, but I may have to wait until I break up from school for that as I just don't seem to have enough time or energy :(.

The house feels very untidy and messy at the moment :( but it's because of DS2 and DS3's belongings being scattered around, as well as the fact that I'm halfway through de-cluttering the toy void.

I'd love to get the house clean, tidy and de-cluttered, but realistically I won't have time until the school holidays because there's too much other stuff to do (like laundry, ironing, cooking, etc). At least the cupboard under the stairs looks lovely and when I got the wrapping paper out of the Christmas void I was pleased at how tidy it looked in there :). I just need to translate that to the rest of the house!

It would also be nice to go out for the day or even half a day and enjoy this lovely weather, but we seem to have too much to do at home at the moment. Anyway once DS2 is at home operations on his room will have to cease, so that will free up time for other things, as well as reducing mess in the hall and living room!

Hi HHD :) Wow, I'm totally impressed with everything you've done this weekend especially with it being so hot. I hardly moved yesterday apart from to do a bit of washing and feed the always hungry men of the house :o

You know what they say, you can't make an omlette with cracking a eggs, so although your house is getting on your nerves the end product will be worth it. Have you managed to get rid of some of DS2's things or will everything just go back in his room again until he comes home and he can do it. Hopefully when he sees how tidy it is it'll inspire him to keep on top of it a bit more. I've come to the conclusion that's the best we can hope for with DD who manages to make her room look like a bomb's hit it within 24 hours

Hope you manage to get a rest this afternoon so you're all refreshed for work. Not long now to the holidays and then you'll have loads of time to get sorted and the best bit is you'll be paid for it :) xx

Thanks TF2 :). The house feels a right mess at the moment  but I'll be able to get on top of it in the holidays. DH has thrown away lots of rubbish from DS2's room and I threw away a white t-shirt that was old and yellowed and a hoodie with a hole in the elbow today. But most of it will have to go back in. But at least the room will be cleaner and the rubbish took up a lot of space.

  • Bad news. The furry moron doesn't seem very well :(. DH and DS1 have taken him to the vet but it's going to cost £120 because it's Sunday plus the cost of any treatment :(. He is listless and not eating or pooping much. DS1 will be heartbroken if he dies and DS2 will be upset too I'm sure, so we have to take him to the vet. I just wish it had happened tomorrow. The furry moron is six years old which is elderly for a Rex rabbit apparently.

I don't know if we'll be able to afford the have the gate or fence done now, it depends upon how much the vet bill is. This is why I'm never having another pet :(.
