Just to add to the mollycoddling children debate - I have done things and paid for things for my children as they were at uni, but they are very capable. I’ve just helped them when the pressure has been on for them. In turn they have learned kindness and responsibility which has been given back to me ten fold (well it feels like it) as they have returned the kindness to other folk and to me and my dh - looking after me during bouts of hospitalisation and illness. They know they can rely on me and I know I can rely on them.
Safe trip to uni and enjoy having some of your boys back home.January spends - £587.580 -

I'm sure he would rather be at home with his family during the summer:)
I remember when I was in my first year at Uni and in Halls. They used them for accommodation for people attending conferences etc during the vacs and we had to clear every last thing out of our rooms at the end of every single term:(. We didn't have the same amount of things as we did in flats or houses but there was still plenty. We could store a lot of it in the Hall's luggage room if we boxed it up so it didn't all have to be taken home every few months. I never left anything valuable there though and my big and heavy record player and box of vinyl records, plus my transistor radio went wherever I went:rotfl:
I hope he'll want to come home Noella. You were very attached to your record player.

We left at 9.15am and arrived at 3pm so bang on schedule. We had a good journey with lovely weather and not too much traffic :T.
We did some packing with DS3. We'll finish packing and give his room a quick clean in the morning. DS3 and DH wanted to throw away the remains of his small box of laundry powder, but this horrified my frugality so I insisted we pour it into three tiny plastic boxes to bring home :rotfl:.
We're at the hotel now, and we're going to go out and eat with our restaurant vouchers soon. DS3 has food he wanted to finish up so he's not coming to the restaurant with us, which will save money :money:. On the journey we ate sandwiches and fruit for lunch that I made at home this morning and just bought two coffees each :money:.
Already I feel much more relaxed than last time we came so the hotel idea was a really good one.
I hope everyone has a good weekend. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
