  • A friend who lost her Mum recently has had memory bears made with some of her clothes. They are gorgeous. Same idea as the memory quilt, but smaller Xx

Morning HHD :) I was thinking about your diary last night and although I know the de-cluttering isn't an easy task for you and talking about your Mum must be painful, I wanted to say 'thank you' for talking about both. It's interesting to read how other people feel and deal with similar situations and the thoughts on how to keep memento's like making memory blankets and teddies is lovely.

Hope you have a lovely day. xx

I haven't had the experience of any of this yet, and not really sure how I would feel in this situation.

Love and hugs to everyone. I am sure whatever way suits you, it will stay have a massive amount of difficulties attached to it.

I am sorry your step dad can't see your point of view either. x

Thank you Nicnak :). It is hard but something we all have to go through eventually I suppose and find our own way of dealing with.

That's a lovely idea and so are the memory quilts a lovely idea. Maybe I could save up to have something like that made from my mum's clothes.

  • DE-CLUTTERING UPDATE
The shops are open today, hurrah :D. So DH and I went out early and bought storage boxes :T.

We bought nine boxes in BnQ for £48, all transparent and quite sturdy with lids. When we got home and looked at the receipt we think they didn't charge us for four of the smaller boxes :money: but I'm not going to go back and complain ;). Then we went to the R@nge and bought a pet food storage container for the rabbit food, and a laundry basket for DS3 to take back to uni with him. The rabbit food container was half price at £6.99 and the laundry basket had £5 off so was only £9.99 :money:.

So a total of £64.98 was spent  which makes it a very spendy day . But we did get nine boxes, a rabbit food container and a laundry basket, so a lot was obtained for the money.

One of the smaller (free ;)) boxes I've used to put the hay, in and the furry moron's dry food fitted nicely into the canister, protecting them both from mice :T.

I've made good use of the other storage boxes too, as I've amalgamated two cardboard boxes and two bin liners full of toys into one large plastic box. Three plastic boxes now contain school reports, drawings, postcards, etc, with a label on for each child :T. This has freed up space in our filing cabinet.

One of the smaller boxes was also used for china. Our dining room is currently a bedroom and we had to empty it of all our dining stuff. The china is ornaments that we want to keep and will display one day when we have our dining room back (when the DC move out). The china was in a cardboard box wrapped in newspaper. It's now in a plastic box wrapped in bubble wrap and labelled :T.

I've got a large, medium and two small boxes left over for when I de-clutter the other voids, but I'll do that when I get another holiday.

The big void is now de-cluttered and almost everything in there is minimised and stored in labelled transparant boxes with lids. It will be much easier to find things now and there is a lot more space in there to move around too. So although it's been very hard work, I feel that it was worth all the effort.

Our bedroom does look tidier now, although it will look better once I've taken stuff to the charity shop. I've got two rucksacks, two hessian bags, and three other bags on my side of the room that need to be dropped at the charity shop.

I'm going to buy a day rider bus ticket tomorrow afternoon and make lots of trips to the charity shop until I've got rid of them. DH will be at the new customer's office, so we can't do it by car.

  • For the rest of today I need to hang up the laundry (I'm starting to wash the things DS3 needs to take back to uni :(), put the dishwasher on and clean out the furry moron.

After that I need to help DH do some work to prepare for visiting the new customer tomorrow. It's all go! One day maybe I'll find some time to relax!

Another productive day HHD, well done :T Sometimes it's not always about getting rid of everything. A good sort out and knowing where things actually are and being able to get to them can be just as beneficial.

Hope it all goes well for DH with the new customer. xx
