I often feel like this too :(

You would have missed out on all those good reads though. Once they are gone, you know that in the future you'll be able to read a book and pass it on, having enjoyed it and knowing that someone else will enjoy it in the future.

I haven't read most of them :o :rotfl:.

  • Probably as well to have a decluttering break. Decluttering brings up complex feelings so a break in the sunshine is probably just what you need :)

Yes I'm sure you're right and it will do me good to have a break from it. We're late leaving as DH had work to do this morning and now he's in the shower!

I haven't read most of them :o :rotfl:.

My friend's late husband was a terrible hoarder. He had years and years worth of shooting magazines piled up in the spare bedroom. He hadn't been shooting for years, but wouldn't give up his subscription (even though he wasn't reading them) or throw any away. There was obviously an emotional tie there but, as she said, what a waste of money, apart from clogging up their guest room when they had people to stay!

I wouldn't worry about not having read these books. They've gone now and will make some room for books that you will read. You will find that as you de-clutter and unclog the crowded spaces in your home, you will feel so much more serene (which is what you are striving for isn't it!).

You've done so well and (please don't take offence), but your recent positive posts read like they've been written by another woman (and please, please don't think I'm including your your bereavement in your earlier posts because it's absolutely natural that you felt so down).

Its good to have a day off today as you don't want to burn out. I hope you enjoy your day with your family.

  • Lucky enough to have both DDs + DGS coming tomorrow. I've cried off cooking and we're having an Indian delivery (yum!!), then I'll do slow-cooked lamb on Sunday.
OH is being wonderfully helpful by dusting, hoovering and tidying downstairs, whilst I hobble slowly around with my stick and do what I can.

Hope you all have a lovely Easter, much helped by the predicted sunny weather, egg hunts, chocolate, family, spring flowers and whatever else makes you happy (incl. de-cluttering !!)

    HAPPY EASTER

Thank you SSG :). I do feel like my sadness about my mum has pushed me into new challenges, like my job at school, my course and the de-cluttering. I suppose I have less to lose now and that makes me braver.

You're doing brilliantly with the de-cluttering HHD. Slow and steady wins the race and you'll get to a stage that you're happy with eventually.

You come across as so calm when writing about your mouse problems. I'd have been screaming the house down if one kept popping out from under my sofa  I'd definitely be in a no win situation. Don't like them alive, certainly wouldn't like finding them dead :rotfl:

Hope you all have a lovely Easter weekend. xx
  • Thanks TF2 :). I know it took years to acquire the clutter so I can't expect it to disappear within a few weeks, but the reality feels far away from my vision at the moment!

I'm not frightened of mice, but I'd prefer them not to be running around the living room because they're unhygenic and it makes me jump when I see one . It feels like a war between the humans and the mice at the moment :rotfl:.

  • We met my relatives at the zoo today and had a really lovely time. I was especially pleased because DS2 and DS3 came, so it was a rare whole family outing :). The weather was warm and sunny and lots of animals were basking in the sun, so it was a very successful visit. It was nice seeing the relatives too as we don't see them that often because they live quite far away.

MSE wise it was a spendy day because it was £62 to get in for the five of us, even with DS3's student discount . But I don't think DS2 and DS3 would have come if it was just a walk, they seemed to like the idea of the zoo, so it was worth the money for a day out with the whole family :D.

I made sandwiches for everyone except DS2, who bought a sandwich himself, and I took bananas and drinks. So all we had to buy at the zoo were ice creams for the men and a cup of tea for me :money:.
