DH suffers from depression which does affect how much he can earn. I spent years helping him but got so frustrated when I could see his depression was losing us clients and work sometimes
. Sometimes he does well, other times really badly. So this is why I decided I had to get a job. I'm determined to get more hours and earn regular money to have a stable income.DrSpendLittle wrote: »Just caught up - so pleased to hear about the PPI refund!! And the super quick cash! Thanks for talking so openly about DH's depression, HH. It must have been awful for you to see it first hand and yet be powerless to do much about his work situation. I'm sure he found your assistance and presence a great help though.
I know it's none of my business but I sometimes wonder whether your DH could bear to wind down his business and get employment where he's working for and with someone else. Sometimes. being alone at home working, especially when things aren't going too well, can't be helpful to people prone to depression. I expect he loves being self-employed so maybe he could run a business on a part-time basis as I think you said you planned to do with yours once it's up and running. He'd get the best of both worlds then:j. When you get a full-time TA job do you still intend to run your own business on the side too?
Just a word of advice if I can be so bold:o. Please don't spread yourself too thinly (I think that's what the phrase is) and take on too much. It's so easy to become burned-out:eek:. Been there, done that:o
Your sunshine certainly hasn't travelled in our direction:(. The rain has increased in intensity and we're not looking forward to the surveying team arriving tomorrow with their heavy equipment to dig massive holes all over the garden. It's very heavy clay here and already waterlogged. There'll be mud everywhere tomorrow:(0 -
Thank you Carboot
.
DH would never ever consider giving up his own business. He says it's the only thing he's good at and that he's unemployable now due to being self employed for so long and because he is very independent and has to do things his way iyswim.
I do think that if I got a full time job it would take the pressure off him and then he would feel less stressed and probably earn more. Instead of taking low paid jobs out of desperation, he could hold out for something better.
I desperately want a full time job because I hate being at home all the time and I want a regular income for my peace of mind.
The best thing about working in a school is I'll have the holidays to recover from any tiredness and spend time with DH and the DC
. I will keep doing the small business if I can because it's only a one day a week thing, so should be doable. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
