We had our annual mortgage statement today and we now owe around £40,500. We've got nine years left to run on it. If we hadn't had to pay off our debts we could have used the pension money to pay off the mortgage
. So I have regrets. Still I know it's a lot less than some people owe. We're on a repayment mortgage and there's no penalty for overpaying or paying it off early. It's pity we can't afford to do either at the moment.
We also need a lot of work done on the house. It needs re-rendering and painting front and back, the fascias and some of the guttering needs replacing, the two bay windows at the front need replacing, we need a new bathroom (including tiles), and the flooring needs replacing.
I reckon just the re-rendering and painting would cost ten grand. I dread to think how much the rest would cost
. I'm not sure how we'll ever afford to get the work done and it does worry me a bit. But maybe our circumstances will improve one day.

We had to have one side of our house re rendered when we had the roof replaced and some of the wall needed rebuilt. It was a special kind of render which dried the colour we wanted, so no painting necessary. It wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be XxDebts @ LBM £23,729.31. Debts @ 08/04/2016 £0 :j

That's interesting Lucky. We haven't had a quote, that was just my guesstimate of what it might cost. Scaffolding is always a big part of the cost.
We can't afford any of it yet, but hopefully one day...Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
