  • Do you remember tie-dye Hairy? I ruined a pair of jeans years ago by using to much bleach in the bucket of water I was dyeing them in! They came out looking cream and blue and the cream bits ripped because the denim had weakened so much. Would have looked fine though with the fashionable ripped look that has been going around!:rotfl:

I used to go into Chelsea Girl and try lots of clothes on but seldom buy anything :o I don't remember the Sweater Shop but I used to like Benetton and their sweaters.

As a teenager when tie dye was 'in' for the first time round I tie dyed a few tee shirts which worked well and I was really proud of myself. I seem to remember it involved pebbles, string, rubber bands and those little tins of cold water dye in a bucket in the back garden - happy days :)
  • I don't remember that .

Neither do I. There certainly weren't any wherever I lived. Maybe it was a Scottish chain:think:. Beanielou is Scottish.

In those days I lived nearer lots of stores, not like now:(. I never bought anything from the Sweater Shop, I don't know why as I enjoyed going in there and browsing. I loved Benetton and knew someone who had a Saturday job there and spent most of her time having to re-fold the sweaters that people had rummaged through:rotfl:.

I loved tie-dye and tried doing it on all sorts of cotton garments. I must have looked a real sight:o. I remember once going to a party dressed in one of my creations and as I was leaving my Dad just looked over his glasses and said '' you never mentioned that it was a fancy dress party'':rotfl:

I loved tie-dye, I've always had a quirky style. Probably because I had to dress so conservatively for work:(. I liked to be a bit 'different' in my own time. I think the 70s was my favourite era fashion-wise, although fashion experts now look upon it as the decade that style forgot:eek:

I used to do a lot of batik and made some lovely skirts from the fabric. They were more artistic than tie-dye and I knew no one would have one exactly the same. When I look back now at how I was then I'm amazed that I was so confident in expressing my individuality:o

The Sock shop was extorntinate I remember.
I have a 'thing' for socks! Notebooks! Pens!

I love notebooks and pens too, Beanielou:j. I haven't a 'thing' for socks although I have a few quirkily patterned pairs that I've had for years and never worn yet. A friend used to love interesting socks and people always bought them for her as gifts. She said she had more pairs than she could ever wear in a lifetime and gave a lot away including some to me. Must see if I can remember where I put them, they'll be handy in this cold weather:j
