You are sounding very motivated HH. Especially impressive given all the business with your Stepfather.
It will be great if some of the PPI claims are a s success. Nothing ventured, nothing gained and all that :)

Thanks so much for replying so quickly and so fully:A

Can I ask you if all the conditions you listed have to apply?

I never made any insurance claim for any aspect of the insurance and didn't take advantage of the mobile phone cover and register my phone as I didn't even have a phone:o. I didn't use the Keysafe thing where you register (and I didn't bother to) and use the key fob they sent and if the keys are lost someone returns them. I wasn't told I needed a packaged account for a loan so that one's not relevant to me. The travel insurance would have been appropriate but I never used it.

I claimed in Oct 2017 these accounts went back as far as 2004 I closed them in 2009. I got a phone call first and was asked loads of questions mainly about the benefits of the accounts and had I used them etc. They could see I had taken the loan out the same day the account was converted to packaged acct. also asked me if I had any medical conditions so told him that I wouldn't have been covered because I was never asked for that information.

I think you should just put a claim in and see what happens .

HH looks like you are going to be a financial guru by the time you have done all your claims . I have just received a text from my latest PPI claim put through Resolver on the 19th saying they have received it and are looking into it.

That's very quick work from Resolver:j

I never used it myself, I don't think it was available when I submitted my PPI claims as they were a while ago. It sounds from what several people have said about it on here that it's an incredibly quick and easy way to do things. Thanks to everyone who's mentioned it:T. I claimed all my PPI directly with the banks concerned but it was simple enough. It just seemed to take forever waiting for their decision:eek:.

I'm going to investigate Resolver fully tomorrow, there might be something that they can sort out for me;) although not PPI as I know I didn't have it on any more products than those I've already claimed on:(. I was up most of the night with neuralgia and I'm nearly nodding off now. Anything that requires concentration will be beyond me tonight:o
  • That's a brilliant selection of accounts, you must be over the moon finding so many 'possibles':j:beer:. I'm very impressed that you kept all that paperwork. I have a cull every 6 years as I read that paperwork needn't be kept longer than that. I might be wrong, often am:o, but it might be different for businesses like yours.HH. I wished I'd kept mine longer though once I started trying to track down possible PPI claims:(. Well done:T.

I don't want to put a damper on things but should mention that just because people had PPI doesn't necessarily mean that it will be repaid. It has to have been mis-sold but there are lots of reasons why it could have been. Were you self-employed at the time you had all these accounts? I think that's one of the top reasons for policies being mis-sold but there are others too:j.
I agree with CBC not all PPI is paid,. One of the reasons it does self employment being one . The reason I got paid was because I received six months sick pay and six months half pay so PPI wasn't needed . Definitely read Martins guide it's very helpful.

I haven't kept all of the paperwork. For example I have no paperwork for the Debenh@ms cards. But I do have statements for all the credit cards, some going back back as far as 2008 (1998 for the RBS Adv@nta card). I've no paperwork for the car loan.

I thought under the Plevin rule that you didn't have to prove it was missold, just having PPI was enough? Anyway DH has been fully self employed since 1997 so I think any PPI we had after that date probably was missold?

I will definitely read Martin's guide. I know we won't get money back from all of the accounts on my list, but that is a list of all the financial products we've had and so we can at least claim and see if any of them are successful.

Who dares wins as SSG said :D.

Lloyds refunded some bank charges without my having to ask as they were reviewing their procedures for how they had treated people in financial difficulties. They acknowledged that they hadn't treated people fairly! I couldn't believe it especially as I had no luck getting anything back from Santander when I wrote to them about it last year. I see you had success with your Santander charges so if you see this please could I ask if it was a straightforward process? I want to try again with them. Thanks x

Who Dares Wins! I agree with that:beer:

CBC - i didn't have any trouble with Santander paying out - if I remember correctly I claimed not long after I started my first diary on here - nearly five years ago. I concocted a letter to them taken from Martin's template in the PPI section of his website. I went through my Santander statements I had at the time and listed all the charges down. They rebated them back pretty into my account. Hope this helps.:)

i understand you feeling guilty hairy but think about it logically. We are never as rich again as we are when staying at home. Once we pay our digs all our money is our own, electricity comes on when we flick a switch, food appears in the cupboards, clothes are washed without us thinking about whether there is washing powder etc etc. Once we get out into the real world paying for our own way suddenly almost every penny of our wages are used up in all the boring things of life, bills, food, household stuff etc etc leaving very little for the fun stuff. So i think he will understand and be okay about waiting a little while for it to be repaid,. After all you didn't begrudge your sons when they went on holiday to Iceland last year, paying things for them, buying socks and replacing clothes they threw away cos they couldn't pack them back into the bags (!) And giving them extra spending money to make sure they had a good time. That all took money away from you getting yourself sorted out when you really couldnt afford to give them anything but you did it. Give your son this chance to help out the family and feel hes becoming an adult, contributing his share.

    Dxx

I must agree with daisy wholeheartedly here. I actually borrowed a few thousands pounds from my own daughter a few years ago as I had to extend the lease on my flat. When she found out that I was going to get a loan she insisted she loan me the money instead - i did pay her back in instalments each month. Her rationale to me when I initially ptotested was (a) it was daft to get a loan when she could lend me the money comfortably; and (b) she said that as I had supported her all through her higher education and when she was very lowly paid at the start of her career, she was more than happy to come to the aid of the party!:)

Your son knows you will pay him back and he's probably very happy he can help out when you've been going through such tough times.
