  • Lovely to have lost the weight, at least I hope I'm right in thinking it's lovely (I've lost 13kg this year thanks to the side-effects of Tramadol and I really needed to!!), but of course if you need new clothes it's aggravating.

A friend of mine who never buys any new clothes, turned her deceased brother-in-laws socks into mittens, and re-used deceased sister's pants and bras ! She complains bitterly about current charity shop prices but is a master of re-using, and getting the most out of. She slits open toothpaste tubes to get another fragment out !
But she has some excellent ideas, like she buys a pint of s/s milk because she knows I don't care for skimmed, then decants it into a lot of little pots, which are then frozen, and defrosts one when I'm due to come. Now that's really sensible.

Happy Saturday all, it's very dull & dismal here but not cold.

Yes it's good but I probably shouldn't lose any more.

I think I'd draw the line at second hand underwear and socks . But I'm all for cutting open tubes to get more out. My dad will concente intently on scaping the last little bit out of the jam jar :rotfl: and he had a well paid job and has a good pension. He's just naturally frugal. I wish I'd taken after him when I was younger.

  • Actually, I think the toothpaste tube idea is an excellent idea:j. I once saw a penny pinching programme on TV where someone was slitting open tubes of this and that. You'd be surprised how much is wasted by just tossing the tube when it seems empty. I used to use their tip of rolling/folding over a toothpaste tube (the old fashioned metal ones not so much the plastic ones as it doesn't work the same) when it was nearly used up. You can still squeeze some out that way. I used to do this before I had debts, I've always hated waste.

I have chapped/rough hands a lot of the time, they always seem to be in water or detergent and I get through hand cream in industrial quantities:o. I've managed to get lots of handcream out of tubes by slitting them open. You'd be amazed how much handcream is left in a tube after just squeezing it doesn't produce any.

My hands get very dry Carboot but I wear rubber gloves for most jobs, then I don't get through as much hand cream. I buy good quality hand cream as it's more effective but only when it's half price :money:.

It was horrendous in town . I should have worn my raincoat but didn't have time to go back for it before the bus came. It was heavy rain and a chilly wind .

I met stepdad for coffe and he gave me a large tin of luxury biscuits he'd got half price in M&S and some left over stamps he didn't need :T.

But I realised I'd forgotten my rucksack and I had food to buy as well as the biscuit tin to carry, so I nipped into a charity shop and spent £3 on a strong hessian bag, which will always be useful. Then I bought bananas, cheese and two jars of hot chocolate for £6.42.

After that I was glad to come home because my hood kept blowing off, my jeans were soggy and town was heaving with people .

Is it just me or do people get very rude at this time of year? . I nearly got knocked over a couple of times and decided that I must have become invisible . Perhaps I need to wear a high vis jacket or drape myself in Christmas lights .

My total spend was £11.82 including my bus fare. I'm glad I did go on the bus as some of the car parks were full!

I think some people are rude most of the time HH :o I'm aware we all have things we are thinking off when we are out in town etc and our minds might be elsewhere. However manners cost nothing.

It's very wet and windy here too! so much so a neighbours gate has blown down and broke the fences  Crazy

  • Horrible rain here today too and it's really dark and gloomy. The postman has just been and I had to sign for something and got soaked even leaning out of the door:eek:

Good news to report on 2 fronts though so I don't mind getting wet. My £50 PopulusLive survey cheque arrived:j. I wasn't expecting it much this side of Christmas, I know them of old. Has your YouGov payment been credited yet, HH?

Best of all the official letter from Wescot arrived confirming details of the settlement I made with them on the phone on Monday:j. I wasn't sure if they work Saturday afternoon, well the payment people anyway, but I phoned straight away and paid the debt off by debit card. Will update my signature later. What a relief to get my second debt out of the way:j. Wescot have been a pleasure to deal with, I'll be sorry not to have anything to do with them now. No, maybe not:rotfl:, I only had dealings with them because of debts and I'm NEVER going to get into that position ever again. I hope it's not a case of famous last words.

Still no response whatsoever from 2 that I sent offers to weeks ago. Their loss. I obviously won't be debt-free by the end of this year as I'd dreamed of being:( but I have enough money saved to pay them so in my heart I can feel debt free even if it's not official.

Weather not dire here today but was yesterday.
I hate when the shops are so busy & people are so dire.
