@Carboot Your house must be like a sitcom sometimes :rotfl:.

Not just sometimes:rotfl:. It's all the time when it isn't a horror show:eek:

OH was out this afternoon when our regular heating oil supplier phoned to see if we want the oil tank topped up before Christmas. I say 'regular' but if they relied on customers like us for a living they'd soon go bust. I bet other customers have had a couple of tankfuls since we had our last delivery and we still have over half of a 1000 gallon tank left. Needless to say when I passed the message on to OH there was a lot of muttering.

CBC can you reckon up as long a time period as you can for your oil deliveries then divide by the number of months that covers. That would give your oh a figure to put aside monthly same as we pay electricity, gas, water, shopping etc. I know that might just give you groans each month as he has to save/move/hand over a smaller slice than however many times a year you have to listen to the groans of the larger payment but it may be more manageable in his head to have these smaller amounts? Just a thought.

If you thought he would give it to you each month either by s/o or in cash, and then you took over paying for the actual deliveries you could put it on as often as you want knowing his monthly figure won't change and you are happy to pay any extra. Either that or get a plug in fire and keep at least one room to your preferred temperature and just pay the extra electricity. After all, its your house too and compromise means you both get to be happy some if the time not one person shuts up and is uncomfortable and the other gets it all their own way.

Just thoughts for you to mull over, no need to respond if you dont care to.

Hh sounds like the counselling has hopefully started/helped with the healing process even though you only got that one session. I'm sure you feel it's a shame it might get a bit worse before it gets better and sometimes it's a step forward, two back but some days will be two steps forward and just the one back so hopefully it will get easier.

Having to reprint is such a pain in the neck. Hope you are keeping up your resolution to keep this years accounts straight each week so you dont have to go through this next year.

    Hugs, daisy xxx

Counselling can stir up dormant emotions and make you feel worse before you feel better. In the long run I'm sure it's beneficial. Just a shame I only got the one session (for now).

After Christmas I'm definitely going to get organised with next year's accounts early. At the moment I feel like I've got as much (more) as I can handle on my plate :o. But I definitely don't want to feel this stressed next year.

I don't think that would work, daisy, but thanks for going to the trouble to suggest a solution:T

OH has never had any debts in his life and has always been uber-frugal (aka stingy) when it comes to spending his money but that's not really the problem with the oil. He could pay for a 1000 gallon tankful any time he likes with no problem about finding the money. He genuinely never feels cold, in fact he's in short-sleeved shirt and no sweater as I type this and there's been no heating whatsoever all day in the room he's currently in. Sometimes when the heating is on he goes and stands out in the garden, he just can't stand it. He practically passes out in some shops (not at the thought of spending money:rotfl:) but because of the heat. It all started when he was first diagnosed with a thyroid condition but even though it has been stable for many years with medication his overheating never went back to normal. His GP says there's nothing to be done about it.

I do have a halogen heater in the small sitting room/office that is my little domain when I watch the second TV or read in the evening, He never comes in here because he says it's like a hothouse. It isn't, I only have one bar of the fire on and even then not all the time.

I think OH's grumbling when reminded about buying more oil was mainly the worry that I was planning on making the house unbearably hot. He also doesn't like spending money on anything but in this case it's on something that he doesn't feel necessary and also causes him genuine discomfort. He always says, and it's quite true, that I can always put a few extra layers on to keep warm.

And please don't get me started on out duvet wars:eek:

I've put two sets of 240 lights on our six foot Christmas tree, wrapped tinsel around it and added all our weird and wonderful decorations. Then I put all the empty boxes in the void. I am officially shattered now . It took me over two hours!

I can't believe how tiring putting up Christmas decorations is. They look lovely when they're up, but I hate the process. The lights got all tangled up and I got so hot and bothered I had to take off my fleece jacket and jumper and do it in short sleeves (in a house with no heating). My back is really sore now and I feel stressed out :(.

I think I've been overdoing it lately. I prepared the accounts last week, volunteered, packed to go away, had a very emotional weekend away, came back, had some very emotional counselling, cleaned out the rabbit, got out the decorations, had a really busy day yesterday, then the food shop and more decorations today. I feel like I need a day in bed :(.

I don't have my usual stamina because of losing my mum I suppose. Normally I'm full of energy and can get loads done without feeling wiped out :o.

Unfortunately I'm volunteering tomorrow morning, but I think I'll do absolutely nothing tomorrow afrernoon.

Anyway all I need to do now with regard to decorations is to put the wreath on the front door.

But I still need to write out Christmas cards and post them, decide what presents to buy and buy them, then wrap up the presents and post them, and plan and buy the food for Christmas day and Boxing day .

This is in addition to all the things I normally do. I know everyone does this at Christmas, but it's hard work . And DH and the DC won't/can't help. If it was left to them nobody would get a card or present and the house would remain undecorated. I think they'd buy food for Christmas, they all like to eat, especially DH, but that's all that would get done .

    Sorry rant over :).
