Good morning to the HHD household
Welcome to your first proper debt-free day.
My, those goals are tough!
I understand you feel you can move mountains but can I suggest a few hillocks first? I am just worried you will overwhelm yourself.
Small steps towards the goals please. You have been under tremendous pressure for a long time without the last fortnight of extreme tension. Your body and mind are going to take time to adjust to the new normal.
Have a great day, take care

We've had some bad news this morning. DH's older brother is in hospital having tests. They suspect cancer but need to find out for sure. He has deposits on his spine that they need to investigate

I slept so well last night, I was exhausted but felt relaxed for the first time in ages
Yesterday, apart from becoming debt free :j DH, DS1 and I had our flu jabs. My arm is a little sore this morning.
We also paid our car tax yesterday. We would have liked to pay for a year and save money, but didn't want to leave ourselves short this month, so just went for six months in the end. Our car insurance runs out on the 12th of this month so we need to find a good deal for that.
Today is my big weekly food shop so I need to stick to my budget of £74.
Now that we are debt free I feel very happy and relaxed, but we have a new set of goals and a new journey to go on.
Our new goals are as follows:
1. Raise our income.
2. Save £1000 in an emergency fund.
3. Save £4000 as a loss of income fund.
4. Save to get essential work done on the house.
5. Pay off our mortgage early.
6. Save a retirement fund so we can afford to retire.
So as you can see, we have no shortage of goals
Being debt free makes me feel so strong that I feel like I can move mountains from now on :T. DH said he has relaxed for the first time in a very long time, so I hope his health will benefit now from the lifting of the pressure
Some very good goals there, I especially like the retirement fundHairyHandofDartmoor wrote: »We've had some bad news this morning. DH's older brother is in hospital having tests. They suspect cancer but need to find out for sure. He has deposits on his spine that they need to investigate

I'm sorry to read this, I sincerely hope that it isn't cancer, must be a big worry. Sending lots of hugs and love your way xxx0 -
At least we don"'t have to cope with this news and debts. If this news had come last week it would have been harder to cope. We are hoping it is treatable, he's still having tests so it's early days.
I need to be strong for DH now. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Thanks abba. We're keeping our fingers crossed it isn't cancer. No more news yet.
Our goals are fairly ambitious, but nothing ventured nothing gained. I don't how long it will take to achieve them, but having goals gives us purpose
Today I spent £69.77 on food in Mr T, so smashed that goal :T. I also spent £5 on a get well cards for BIL, a thinking of you card for his wife, and a sympathy card for a distant relative who lost their mum recently. Then I spent £3.90 on stamps so I can post them. So a total spend of £78.67.
DH and I can't believe how tired we feel today. I feel like I ran a marathon yesterday and was then run over by a steam roller  I think I'd better have a slow day todayFinally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
