I'm home now :T.
I enjoyed seeing my niece and her DH yesterday and they made us very welcome. My mum would have loved being there, she enjoyed seeing family so much.
Stepdad's sister was delighted to see us, but very confused as she has senile dementia so it was a bit exhausting visiting her today. The journeys were good with no hold ups and stepdad was glad of my company.
I'm so pleased to be back home with DH and the DC. I feel a bit unsettled though and slept badly last night because I was in a strange bed and my mind was racing

I'll feel better after a night's sleep I expect. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Glad you had a nice time, and that traffic was on your side.
Back in your own bed tonight might mean a better night's rest. Take care. xxSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

We're going to watch our first Christmas film now, it's called 'Christmas Eve' and is about people getting stuck in lifts in New York on Christmas Eve. I suspect it's going to be terrible :rotfl:.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

With towels I dry them on the line whenever possible and then just give them a few minutes in the tumbler. It softens them up nicely without costing much as they're already 90% dry when they go in. I hate washing and drying towels:(. We had some lovely ones but we've used them for so long they are too thin now to dry us especially after a shower. When I cleared out Mum's home after she passed away I brought all her towels home as no one else in the immediate family wanted them. A lot were totally unused but SIL can't tolerate anything that isn't colour-co-ordinated and she's brought up her married children to have the same views. Nice if they can afford it I suppose. My gain though.
The problem is a lot of Mum's brand new, top of the range towels are white. I don't see why SIL etc didn't want them, white co-ordinates with everything as far as I'm concerned. They're gorgeous but a nightmare to keep white and fluffy:eek:. When I wash them I have to use the hot wash:(, otherwise I economise with cooler temperatures.
Fingers crossed for the new work coming your way soon.
CBC Can you dye towels? I would have thought they would take dye well and if they fade just redye them again? I only ask as white towels would not stay white in this house :rotfl: luckily we love nothing more than a crunchy towel tho so happy with line dried or clothes horse dried ones. We find fluffy ones slide rather than dry us.

Thanks, Daisy:T
I suppose I could dye them, I've dyed other things before and they've been OK but never tried dying towels. I think I'll just keep them as they are though and use the hot wash and bio powder. Mum's towels were brand new when I 'inherited' them but they don't look like it now:o
We don't like our towels really fluffy and I never put fabric conditioner in the towel wash either. Although it smells nice and makes them fluffy it also makes them less effective at drying. I learned that tip from someone who worked at M&S who said several customers returned towels complaining that they didn't dry well. The advice given was to cut down on the fabric conditioner. I just tumble mine for about 10 minutes after bringing them in off the line. They're rarely fully dry when I bring them in anyway. Our old house tends to be a bit damp and I don't want to make things worse by having damp washing around the place if I can help it. The tumbling for such a short time doesn't leave the towels fluffy, just less crispy.0 -

Admittedly it does include the cooker, washing machine and tumble dryer which only I use but, after all, he gets the benefit of hot food and clean clothes from my use of them.
If he drinks hot drinks he has the use of a kettle and if he drinks cold drinks he has the use of a fridge? Does he go anywhere in the house with a light switched on or does he carry a candle about with him? Does he ever look at the bedside or other clock if its mains powered? Does he watch TV, charge a mobile device, use a computer? Does he ever wear clean clothes washed in the washing machine? Does he ever listen to the radio? Heat something in the micro? That shower he hasn't fixed presumably is electric powered. Even his oil filled central heating system may use electrcity to regulate a timer or start it up on the odd occasions it gets started.
I would start giving him a room temperature meal for every meal from now if he he reckons you use the electrcity because it's you who took stuff out the fridge and switched the cooker on to make a meal to feed you both. Sorry if this is all stuff you have already pointed out but for heavens sake, that really seemed a bit of a small minded comment for him to make CBC.

Welcome back:beer:
I'm glad you enjoyed seeing your niece and her DH and that the journey was bearable. I know what you mean about finding it exhausting visiting your stepdad's sister. I found it hard work with my friend's brother sometimes and I know OH found it a real strain when he was staying at his house those few days. My friend phoned me this afternoon and she seems to be finding it a struggle being with him every day.
Enjoy your film:beer:. Sleep well.0
