DH and I did a bit of work on my business this morning and this afternoon I've done some planning for it.
I've also washed some laundry and put it to dry in the garden, emptied the kitchen bins and put the dishwasher on. I just need to do the meter reading now.
I feel much warmer now as I've put my outdoor fleece jacket on over my hoody. I've still got my gloves and blanket on. My weather app reckons it's 9 degrees now and it does feel less cold.
What I really want now are some warm bootie slippers (shades of Mr SA) to keep my feet snug. DH was complaining my feet were cold in bed last night, so I put socks on.
I've got Pilates tonight. DH is insisting I go, although I was worried about spending the £5. My friend is going and I'm sure I'll enjoy it, but I feel glued to the sofa at the moment. I must be getting lazy! Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I always wear thick socks in bed in the cold weather, I'd never get to sleep otherwise. I don't wear gloves in bed yet but when/if I manage to get any cashmere ones like you all recommend I well might;)
Please take your DH's advice and go to Pilates tonight. It's money well spent IMO as it provides beneficial exercise, good company and a change of scene. You spend so little on yourself and you get several bangs for the buck from that £5 outlay:j0 -
Thanks Carboot. I will go, but I do feel a bit tired and lazy at the moment. I'm sure Pilates will wake me up and it will probably be warmer than home

I can't remember if you have double glazing, if you don't there are some really cheap ways of at least reducing the heat loss. I think the cheapest is cling film & masking tape! Obviously only for your "public" rooms if they have small windows so it's not noticable, but fine for bedrooms etc. Although saying that the bulk of my neighbours never open their bedroom curtains at all. I'm guilty too, I only open them to clean now.0

Thanks Badmemory. We have double glazing at the front but it's over 15 years old and lets draughts in. We have big Edwardian bay windows so it's a very large surface area. At the back we have single pane wooden sash windows that rattle in the wind .
DH has put draught proofing tape in the gaps in the living room bay but it keeps falling out . It tends to be the daytime that we get cold and we're always at the front of the house then.

Pilates wasn't as relaxing as usual tonight
. My friend cancelled half an hour before I left because she's hurt her wrist. Then ten minutes into the session my stepdad rang my mobile. I messaged him to say I was at Pilates and was he okay. He replied that he was okay and had forgotten I was at Pilates. I spent the whole session feeling a bit worried about him, so I rang him straight after it finished. It turned out he just couldn't get Netflix to work, sigh. Anyway at least it was good exercise even if my mind isn't as relaxed as usual
.
I didn't ring NPow3r. I decided that if they mentioned our late payment I would probably cry. If someone pays us in the next couple of days we can catch up and then I'll ring them. But I did send them a meter reading online. I've decided to give them a meter reading every Monday. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

You are very hardy not to succumb to the heating being on. I finally put mine on Thursday night but am being sensible with it .
I think EE is right about you phoning the energy supplier and see what they can do for you. I hope your new business eventually gets off the ground for you, gives you something to focus on .

I never had much joy with draft proofing tape either. A transparent silicone gun thing worked much better. That's a technical description obviously!
Boo to disturbed Pilates. But at least he has someone he can talk to which is a good thing.
Good idea to give meter readings weekly. It should give you better control of what is going on.0
