The no-longer annoying creditor rang just now and said that although they rejected DH's offer previously, they have now reconsidered and are accepting his full and final settlement offer :j:j:j:j:j:j:j
All is forgiven
He said the letters have gone out and we should get them next week and DH needs to make the payments by 4 November.
Words cannot describe how happy we both feel :T:T:T
It hasn't really sunk in yet and we won't feel 100% relaxed until the letters have arrived and the money is paid.
However they clearly haven't made this decision lightly, so I do believe the letters will come. They must have realised we are a hopeless case
I usually only drink alcohol on a Saturday, but I think this calls for some cider tonight. We will celebrate properly (but frugally) when the money is actually paid and we are finally debt free

Thank you so much all the people that have been posting on my diary and supporting me. I will still need your help to live within my means and never get into debt again.
I hope that people will be given hope by what's happened to DH and I. Without the pension it would have been hopeless, but even so we only had 50% to offer and had no idea if any of our creditors would acceptFinally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

That has made my day so I reckon it must be the day of the decade for your family. How is cloud nine?
I think a few ciders is definitely deserved. Your husband must be so relieved after all his persistence.
Bet you can't stop smiling
It's wonderful news

I most certsinly will keep posting because we still have a small income, hardly any savings and no pension. So I need to be very focused on frugal living.
