Chancing upon your diary, hhod ( and lived remotely near Dartmoor in another life).

Page-skipping now, but urge you to use petrol cost/journey calculators, which are car model specific and decently accurate. I'd always want to drive anyway, thus be independent anywhere.

I'm surprised you're only now coming to own food/drink/water/thermoses on jouneys( much more interesting and adventurous) but glad you've arrived.

I'd urge you to investigate HI Membership for YHA/SYHA stays away on future journeys/weddings. There's more freedom for you all and good family rooms are available widely. Adventure, security, memories are on tap safely for you all. YHA nights were redeemable against MrT vouchers until earlier this year. Scottish ones still are, I believe.

Do hope that final creditor sees sense.

You'll find saving is just as addictive and compulsive as spending once was.
Health and well-being benefits are the bonus with the former....you've already noted the downside of the latter.

    I really wish you well.

Don't know how handy, knowledgable or ingenious you are with textile, yarn, upcycling..
Recognising what can be done, worn, made with high end quality jumble and sale and c.s. items is a great way to go. e.g. all Harris Tweed is good - use/resell/remake....

    Good luck:-)
p.s. - used MrT vouchers earlier this year for RAC membership.

Thanks ampersand that is certainly food for thought with regard to the YHA :)

We have always taken our own food on journeys but have tended to stop for coffee, so a flask of coffee etc will eliminate that expense :) Sadly I am useless at sewing :(

I agree with you so much that saving brings peace of mind and now that I've returned to this amazing forum my mind is being wonderfully focused on frugal living.

Well that's the morning walk accomplished despite a wet misty day. A quick shower and then I'll be fit to start work :D

  • DH has just rung the annoying creditor and as always the person dealing with him was unavailable  DH asked if the email we sent last Thursday evening (with copies of the F&F offer acceptance letters) had been received, and she said it did not appear to be on the system :mad:

The person dealing with DH is meant to be ringing back today. DH has had enough, he's going to ring them every single day until he gets an answer :mad::mad:

They've had four working days to put an email in their system and the whole saga has been going on for over two months now  It's not doing DH's blood pressure any good :(

Oh for F sake, that is so annoying. At least if DH hounds them continually, they'll get fed up and will haev no option but to deal with it.

  • Well the creditor just rang and said that the email was put on the system last night (not sure why the woman couldn't find it this morning, but never mind). So it is now with the decision makers.

The person dealing with DH is away tomorrow  but he said DH can ring tomorrow if he wants and speak to someone else, because maybe a decision will have been made tomorrow, and maybe it will be on Monday :o

Sigh. Progress I suppose but we are still waiting, waiting, waiting :(

Have I mentioned that I'm not good at waiting? :(

  • At least it seems to be a step in the right direction I guess.

No wonder you hate waiting, I think I'd be the same with them xx
