  • Hope the DS have a great holiday and that no girlfriends appear in Iceland . Glad you are feeling a little better . I would be the same with maths, though I hope I could do infant maths!

My DGS told me he has been dancing round a maypole today , bet that was chaos in the nursery class.

I bet you miss the DS x2 , even though they don't communicate much.

Reading of your family , how is your BIL now ?

Crikey I hope no Icelandic girlfriend appears  although at least it's closer than New Orleans (three hours instead of about twenty!). I will miss them but it's only nine days luckily.

Your DGS must have had a lovely time dancing around a maypole, poor teacher though :rotfl:.

Thanks for asking Cumbria. BIL has finished treatment and is waiting for a scan. He didn't get many side effects ftom the chemo luckily. We really hope the treatment has shrunk the cancer.

I'm glad I'm not the only one - we rarely see DD except for Christmas when she emerges from her room to open her presents.

Fingers crossed for BIL. Sounds like he's done well with getting through the treatment.

    Glad you're feeling a bit better :)

  • Glad you enjoyed your volunteering, HH:T. I used to volunteer at a rural village school a few years ago and one teacher always asked me to be responsible for the baking group:eek:. Up to 10 energetic 4 and 5 year olds and the only adult being me combined with lots of flour and water was, at times, a nerve wracking experience:eek:. Facilities were pretty stretched and the only place they could house the cooker was in a carpeted area off the staffroom. The cooker was also used by the staff for heating their own food and drinks sometimes so I was a nervous wreck making sure we left everything pristine at the end of every session.

I used to go home with a thumping tension headache every fortnight:o. Alternate weeks to baking she had me doing craft activities such as papier mache and other messy things. I enjoyed that more than the baking as it involved less dangerous implements or a hot cooker to keep them safe from.

We had a lovely holiday, self-catering with daughter & grandson. Daughter made 'artisanal' pizza one day (well she made it herself & it was very tasty!!). We also visited Monkey World and Bovington Tank Museum.

'The' wedding was on a big screen so about 30 of us watched it there. I agree George Clooney looks so calm and chilled (and handsome) with his beautiful wife. Beckham looked great too, but WHY did 'Posh' wear dark navy and a glum face - beats me !!
Absolutely loved the Episcopalian Bishop's address - both scholarly & colloquial. Yes, the world would be such a better place if we were all kinder to one another.

The Iceland trip sounds very exciting, HHOD My brother went on his own when he was 17 - no internet, no phone calls, postcard arrived about a fortnight after he came home ! But he undertook to be on a particular train, and my mother & I went to meet him - and there he was ! I'd washed my hair especially - in those days children only washed hair once a week !

Well done on the car boot sale, cbc - that's a lot of money.
  • Beat of luck to the DSs for their trip Xx

  • It's been a hectic couple of days!

On Friday we were frantically finishing work (sent out three invoices :D) and also sorting out stuff for DS2 and DS3's trip.

DH went with DS3 to get his travel money card and collect the Icelandic money. They also wanted to book some excursions to a glacier, the blue lagoon etc, but they were expensive and DS3 didn't think he'd have enough money. So we agreed to give him another hundred pounds towards the excursions (we've aready given him a hundred). Although we can't really afford it we want them to have a lovely holiday. DS3 hasn't had a proper holiday since he was twelve and DH and I feel a lot of guilt about this. Also he has been saving his pocket money, Christmas and birthday money for years, plus money from his bar job. He had £1200 but Iceland is expensive. So I'm glad we've been able to give him £200 towards the holiday and he is very grateful.

Today DH spent ages compiling travel notes for them and booking travel/health insurance for DS3. DS2 took out 12 months travel insurance before his first trip to New Orleans. Meanwhile I bought a plastic sealable folder for their travel documents, plus some toiletries they needed! Who says kids take up less time when they're grown up .

  • I enjoyed my Saturday saunter. It was overcast with occasional sunny spells but very humid and sticky! At least it stayed dry.

I got DS2 and DS3 some mini hand sanitisers in B00ts for their travels. They were were 75p each but I bought them with my points :T. Then I got a big bottle of Pant3ne 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioner reduced to £1.99:T. Plus a bottle of D0ve shower gel for £1 (for DS3) :T. Then the usual spends on bus, coffee, fruit and cheese. I bought a hardback copy of Michael Connelly's "The Crossing" for £1.

I bought some marigolds for my stepdad and lost them somewhere in town, so that's £1.80 wasted :(.

I got home feeling hot and thirsty. Since then I've cleaned out the furry moron and washed some clothes DS2 and DS3 want to pack. I feel shattered now.

I need my cider tonight. Unfortunately we have to get up at 6.00am so I'll have to go to bed early .

I hope everyone is having a good Saturday :).
