You never know. People only tend to tell you the good stuff don't they.

    This is so true.

I agree about FB:T. I don't use it myself nowadays, I don't want to share my life with all and sundry. I like to talk to people in person, on the phone or by some written means.

After taking my cue from you, HH, and making a special thing of visiting charity shops instead of trying to cram them in on a whistlestop dash round town when doing my regular shopping, I had a lovely couple of hours yesterday:j. Apart from the dentist's that is:(. He didn't do much yesterday, I have to go back for an extraction. I'm not too worried about that (apart from the cost of course) as it's better than a massive amount of filling which probably won't hold as there's barely any tooth left to fill now.. It's a back tooth ,well. not too far back to be one of the massive ones but far enough back to not be visible when I smile. He can do it with an injection, no need for an anaesthetic so all's good.

    My charity shop finds were:

2 audio cassettes of John Betjeman (I'm a big fan) and still have the 'technology' to play cassettes. Nobody wants cassettes any more, they cost a massive 20p each:rotfl:. I'm delighted.

I also found 2 great books for £1 each:j. One was Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt. I understand this was made into a film but I'm not much into film viewing and never saw it. I borrowed this book a couple of years ago from the library and was really enjoying it but had to return it before I'd finished as it was due back and there was a waiting list for it:(. Never got round to taking it out again. It's a true crime story but reads like a novel.

My second 'find' was Aria to Death by Nupur Tustin (new one to me). It's the 2nd one in her Joseph Haydn Mystery series. It's historical fiction but using some real characters. like Haydn and real locations. Reviews of it that I've subsequently read on Amazon sound promising. I love Haydn's music but just hope the book isn't too heavy going. I like to learn new things but I read more to relax and be entertained.

Today was my Mr T shop and I spent £70.54 which is well under budget :T.

I got another PA survey and once it's been approved I'll have about £11 :T.

Two of our customers paid this morning (thank goodness) :j just in time for us to buy the week's food. Once we'd paid for the food, paid the mortgage, paid Npower and a couple of other bills we've only got £10 left :(. But at least some of the bills are paid and another customer should pay us soon.

I hope the other work possibilities pan out for us as we could do with an injection of cash :o.

Waiting for people to pay you is the worst bit. We nearly went under some years ago when a big company decided not to pay us a huge overdue invoice for months and months for no reason, and we had to pay the VAT bill on the invoice while we were waiting which cleaned the business out. Luckily I was working so we had money for food but deeply stressful.

You're right that is very stressful and has killed many a business .

The council, for example, can be awful for paying slowly as it has to be signed off by a manager and then get passed to the payments people and then get scheduled to be paid on a certain day .

Sometimes it's better to do work for smaller companies who are more flexible and can pay quicker. But then at least a big company will pay you eventually and is less likely to cease trading before paying you (been there a few times over the years :().

It took us six months to get a payment once, we resorted to ringing him every day and eventually he paid us out of his savings account :rotfl:. He acted like a martyr but he shouldn't commission work if he can't afford to pay for it .
