The garden sounds as though it’s coming along nicely. I’m still bringing my bedding plants in if it is cold at night. Good job I brought them in last night.....we had a covering of snow this morning. It didn’t last long as the sun is shining but it’s absolutely bitter cold.
Enjoy your 2 weeks off. 👍January spends - £587.584 -

I forgot to mention that our boiler is dripping (it still works luckily) so we've got a plumber coming on Tuesday for a hopefully cheap repair. It seems to happen every couple of years 😠. Also our washing machine stopped working on Friday morning 😠, which is not good timing with the beautiful drying weather we've had, plus I wanted to catch up on the washing now I'm on holiday. We've got some Htpnt insurance so we're going to ring them on Tuesday. Why does everything go wrong on a bank holiday? I've got about five days of clean underwear left and then I may have to buy some if we can't get it fixed quickly 😂.
This morning we nipped to our local garden centre and I spend the rest of my birthday money, plus some money stepdad gave me for Easter. I got another dwarf conifer 🌲 and a small shrub for the border as we have lots of gaps. I also got two small ceramic wall hanging pots to get some colour higher up in the garden, I thought they'd be good for flowers 🏵. I also got another bird feeder for peanuts and some nuts to go in it 🦅🕊. I'll get the bird food somewhere cheaper in future though, my sister says Hme Bgns sell it cheaply. This afternoon I planted the conifer in the pot and the second one in the border 🌲, moved a shrub and planted the new shrub in a gap in the border. I feel exhausted now, but I think it looks much better. It's hard to visualise what it will look like when they grow, but I think they'll have enough room to spread themselves a bit.
It's much colder today, mainly because of a biting wind, but it's nice enough to sit in the garden if you wrap up warmly, and it's sunny. DH has finished painting the bug hotel 🐝🐞 so I need to persuade him to put it on the wall at some point. I wanted to get some transparant waterproofing for the nest boxes, but there was a massive queue around BnQ car park 😳 so we decided not to bother. I guess we should have known it would be busy on a bank holiday. We may order the paint online instead.
I've got quite a lot of holiday left which is good 🙂. I want to see some relatives now that we're allowed to so need to arrange some dates with them. I want to rejoin the NT now we're allowed to go there as we always get amazing value out of it and it's nice to go somewhere where you know the numbers will be limited to some extent. I also want to take the Christmas lights down and pack them away now that the days are longer.
Apart from gardening, catching up on housework and seeing relatives, I'm not sure what I want to do this holiday. Just enjoy having some leisure time I guess 😃.
I hope everyone is having a good bank holiday 🙂.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

It's another sunny day ☀️, although it's hiding behind clouds at times ⛅ and it's a bit chilly outside. Hopefully the sunshine will encourage our new plants to grow 🌺🌲.
I'm still waiting for DH to contact Htpnt about the washer 🙄, but the plumber is coming this afternoon to fix our boiler and we've asked him to look at the kitchen tap which is dripping. The plumber coming has made me clean the sink, windowsill and have a good tidy up in the kitchen. I just need to clean cobwebs out of the boiler cupboard, clean the cooker and sweep the floor. Then the kitchen will look almost decent. We haven't had anyone come inside the house for about a year so standards have slipped a bit 😏 .
I'm enjoying having a day to potter around and clean/tidy up the pig sty (aka our home). I've got time for frequent coffee breaks ☕ and it's really lovely to have time to catch up on niggly jobs that I never get time for in the term time 😀.
I've got lots of time to catch up on diaries too so you'll get bored of hearing from me 😂 .Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
