Think the press do a lot of scaremongering which doesn’t help and cannot believe that the uk are the only country in the world with the new strain of the virus. Anyway off to Mr T tomorrow just for a few bits and bobs. Hoping it’s not too busy. I worked there until I retired earlier this year so I used to get everything when I was in work.  It’s a relief when all the shopping is done. Hoping for a quiet Xmas eve.x

The new strain is in lots of other countries not just the UK. This not letting the lorries out of the country is the EU throwing their toys out of the pram because they’re worried they won’t be able to fish in our waters.
I agree about the media scaremongering because it sells newspapers and gets them views! We must keep calm and carry on 🙂. One day we'll be in the history books as the people who experienced the pandemic 😳.

I had a nice lie in this morning and I've been pottering around ever since. I've put a wash on, wrapped up aunt and uncle's presents, addressed my two last Christmas cards that I've only recently found addresses for, and emptied the kitchen bins AGAIN 😇. I'm keen to get all the rubbish out of the house before Christmas day and I'm hoping the dustman will come today.

We're going to meet aunt and uncle at a NT place this afternoon to give them some presents and have a rainy walk 💧☂️🌧🤣. Then we need to try and get Christmas lights from a different smaller Mr T as the ginormous one had sold out, plus I want to get hold of a Quorn roast for my Christmas lunch as they didn't have any in the big Mr T 🙄. I also have one present and three Christmas cards to hand deliver in our local neighbourhood.

This evening we can relax completely as we're going to stay at home for Christmas eve and Christmas day 🎅🎄⛄. We'd though we'd do our woodland walk on Boxing day this year as Christmas day can be rather hectic.

I see that our lettuces are no longer in danger as the French have opened their borders to us  🤣😂. Mind you it will take a few days for three thousands lorry drivers to get tested and get across the channel 🙄. I hope they can all get home for Christmas. The Scottish seafood suppliers have taken a hammering which is a shame for them.

I have a feeling Tier 4 is going to be extended soon after Christmas 🤔, so I'm glad we're going for our NT walk today as we may not have that option for much longer. It's a shame because our visits there always feel so safe and going there makes me feel calm and relaxed. THe NT, my garden and family are my therapy ☺. Much better for me than booze or pills and I've been down that route in the past 😥 . I don't know how quickly Tier 4 will make it down to Devon as we're quite a way from the South East, but events can move very quickly, so my motto is always to expect the unexpected 🤔. My motto works for me at school anyway  🤣😂. Anyway there's always the woods, the moors, or the coast, and if things get really bad, the local park which in our case is a large and lovely one 🌲🌳🌿☘🍃. We must keep calm and carry on 🙂.

I hope everyone in forumland is having a splendid day 🙂.

  • Keep calm and carry on - excellent advice. What can't be changed must be endured.
I do have faith that things will get much better eventually- just not too sure when 'eventually' might be !!

Enjoy your walk. Fingers crossed for the Quorn roast. As an out and out carnivore,  I'm also very partial to nut roasts and stuffed mushrooms.

    Enjoy your walk this afternoon.

Our cases have doubled in the last week and are now higher than they were in the first wave (although still lower than many), so I'm guessing tier 3 or 4 will be heading our way soon.

I'm making a chestnut roast for my Christmas dinner. If you struggle to get a Quorn roast there's a very easy and tasty nut roast recipe here. I've made this before on Christmas Day just for me and it freezes well. I make it quite a lot to be honest.

    Hope you enjoy today.

    Enjoy your NT jaunt.
Thanks all of you. Unfortunately DS1 doesn't like nuts and wanted the Quorn roast.
