Well done on the flu jab 👍January spends - £587.585

Great news about the flu jab - those of us of an advanced (!!) age get it free, but I would still count it money well spent this year.
Yes, my nephew is diagnosed bi-polar, though he & his mother dispute this. But it is ALL due to taking cannabis at uni, which triggered episodes of mania and depression. He absolutely cannot afford to take it ever again, especially after he got a blood clot last time. And yet, some despicable low life decided to re-introduce it to him, at a time when, after multiple ups and downs, he had a good job, accommodation and a partner, and the inevitable has happened. That's the trouble with addiction - you are NEVER free.
There may indeed be some people who can take cannabis recreationally and come to no harm. He is not one of them. If I ever hear the suggestion that cannabis be legalised, I wish I could show them my dear, beautiful nephew whose life has been ruined by it. We were only recently looking at a photo of him at primary school - bright, charming, happy - no hint of all this.
Sorry to rant on - I just feel so strongly about it, and to know that he has joined the ranks of those who sell is beyond belief.8 -
I agree Elizabeth. I spend so much time trying to educate some of ours about it and they are just so blasé about it all. They think it's 'safe' and no amount of me saying seems to get it through to them that it can cause permanent damage.
Good news about the flu jab xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
You can do anything if you put your mind to it. x7 -

foxgloves said:So glad you got your flu jab, HHoD. It was a big weight off my mind when we were phoned recently to say it was our turn from the list. You & me.... we're a funny age (I can say that cos we're exactly the same age!) & I think we probably just need to start being a bit more careful. I know you've been hit hard by flu in the past, as I have, so I consider my £12 jab to be well worth the money.
F x. I do feel relieved as I was worried I wouldn't be able to access one this year.

Elizabeth, I feel exactly the same about you when they talk about legalising it en masse. I've also seen the effect it's had on a family member as well. On the other hand, I really think it should be available to people who it's been proved can medically benefit from it. I hope your nephew finds his way again. xx5

I was covering first aid again at lunchtime and then in a reception class this afternoon. We did vegetable painting by which I mean the children dipped sliced vegetables in paint and printed onto paper. They managed to get paint on both sides of the vegetables as well as all over their hands 🤣.
The weather stayed dry and the sun even popped out to say hello sometimes. I feels a bit warmer this week so I haven't needed my winter coat or gloves yet. Only one day until the weekend 🙂.
I'm curious as to what new virus restrictions will be anounced on Monday. I never go to pubs and haven't been to a restaurant since lockdown, but it won't be good for the economy if they have to close 🤔.
Have a good Thursday everyone. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Also waiting with interest for new restrictions on Monday. Have been in one restaurant since March. So annoying 😩 We have a few local small businesses who will really suffer if they have to close, very sad 😞I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)6
