I'm an avid early morning news watcher on TV (always have been, not just during the current crisis) and unusually for me clicked onto the ITV prog with Piers Morgan. Can't stand the opinionated man, that's why I never watch it normally , but today he said that the UK will end up with the 2nd highest death rate from Covid-19 in the world! This shocked me and then he and the others went on to outline all the measures where we as a country have been very slow to act. In some cases we never did things at all that we should have done. Sadly, it appears that whereas other nationalities have bitten the bullet and accepted really draconian measures we in this country have been very lax. For instance, in Spain yesterday, children (under 14s only) were allowed out of their homes for a very short time for the very first time at all in about 6 weeks! I honestly feel the lockdown restrictions should have been policed far more rigorously in UK, anyone flouting the rules should not have just been ignored or had a 'talking to'. Now there is a growing call for easing of the lockdown, even by politicians who should know better. We are in a very dangerous place at the moment, things could go either way, and all this constantly telling us that the peak is flattening/has passed is like giving people permission to start doing their own thing and take their eye off the ball. Maybe now Boris is back and knows first-hand how awful the illness is we might have someone having the guts to tell us what we need to do not what we want to do. There were loads of walkers up on the fells here yesterday. Judging by their place on the footpaths (seen through binoculars fro our garden) they had already walked for well over a couple of hours from where they must have left their cars. Someone told us (via phone) that the lanes near them had rows of cars parked yesterday. Visitors from elsewhere obviously think that being in the countryside doesn't matter as far as the 'stay at home' rule goes!!!!
Sorry, rant over. I just get so cross. Wishing you all a good day with, hopefully. some sunshine.

Sorry to hear about your B-in-L, HHoD, what a worry for your sister on top of everything else. I do hope there is at least some useful treatment which can be offered. I don't know much about cancer treatment, but am learning, as Mr F's B-in-L is mid-treatment.
On our street, most people seem to be sticking to social distancing/not having visitors, etc, really well from what we can see....except for a small group of houses which contain different families but who are all related to each other, so recently we've noticed that the one permitted daily walk or bike ride for exercise has morphed into children spending the afternoon playing out. Maybe the parents are justifying it in that they are from the the same family, just not from the same household, I don't know. It's not my business unless I can't get past them at a >2m distance, which hasn't been a problem, seeing as they mostly play in the middle of the road!

Most people are being sensible but some still don't get it. We were shocked this evening on a zoom call to DH's brother for his birthday because his daughter and two grandchildren were there 😱.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

I'm not a piers fan either, but have watched his interviews with MPs and glad he's asking them questions and holding them to account. He's sometimes rude and I don't agree with that. He's asking questions though on PPE and care homes deaths and asking about why they're not bring recorded. He also said he'd pay any parking fine given to an NHS worker in this crisis.
He also called out Victoria Beckham for furloughing her workers when she didn't need to. Normally, I switch him off but actually watching him fight for the worker at the minute.
Hope you're ok, Hairy xSeptember 2017 Debt = £25330

We needed a few bits of food so we got up early and got to Mr M for 8.30am. There was no queue and DS2 and I walked straight in, so Monday morning must be a good time to go 🙂. I was pleased because I was able to get a bag of compost and two geranium plants 🌺🌺.
After that I put a wash on and dried it in the garden, cleaned the cooker, ironed two cushion covers I washed the other day and also ironed five tops for work. Then we had a zoom birthday party for DH's brother, which was quite entertaining but we were shocked to see his daughter and grandchildren were there. His granddaughter even blew out the candles on his cake 😱😱.
I didn't go for a walk today and neither did anyone else, so I'm determined that I'll go for one tomorrow and hopefully the DH and DS2 will come too 🙂.
I hope everyone has had a good Monday 🙂.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally
