What are you reading on? There's been lots of stuff on the Site Feedback forum helping with these kinds of issues. I've found that spending a couple of hours poking around has resolved most things. I don't want to clog up HHODs thread with answers, but - if you're on a laptop or tablet using a browser that displays this properly (I'm using Chrome on a Mac, Safari on an ipad and both look like this, although some people have had problems with things overlapping) subscribed threads are now 'bookmarked' so they're under the 'Bookmarks' symbol up at the top of the page (where the thread title is). To the right of that you'll see your profile, and if you click on that you can go in and add your avatar, make changes to notifications (I switched off emails and turned on pop-ups instead). 
It might be worth you looking on the site feedback forum and asking questions there, as people have solved lots of things and have put together useful posts with screenshots as well. If you can't solve a problem, post on the 'snagging' thread, and tell them the device, operating system (and version) and browser (and version) that you're using as the more details the have the more chance there is that the team can solve it - they won't have been able to test for every possible combination that the huge number of users on this site might be using. 
Also your name looks fine for me, and I can see your horse clearly in your avatar
so you must be using a different ipad operating system etc to me. It might bet worth checking that you've done all your software updates and have the latest versions installed.

Definitely check for software updates, and do any that are outstanding (a good idea for security anyway, as that's how patches are delivered). Clicking on the profile should give you the option to view or edit profile - you must have got in there once in order to upload your avatar! I find some bits work better on the laptop, some on the ipad - I've logged in on the phone, but it's slow so I CBA (also it's small and I have the other two to use!).

Turn your iPad sideways and try that? It solved most of my problems however ridiculous that sounds

I got to my profile from my diary,I clicked on my name at the side of my diary and it took me to my profile😊

Yay,that's solved the problem,how weird 

It's just about there being enough space for everything to fit properly. If you're using it the other way round you may need to switch to mobile rather than desktop format.

I can now use everything but the keyboard on my iPad is massive so it takes up loads
of room,can you make the keyboard smaller

Only by buying an external one as far as I'm aware, but it might be worth googling.
