I’m pleased you got in to see the doctor. Did he do the blood tests there and then or do you need to go back for them.
Enjoy the rest now you don’t need to cook for the visitors. I got quite a shock at the supermarket today but I’m not used to shopping for more than 2 these days and I shopped for family visiting. I think it depends as to what frozen food you bought re the expense. Frozen veg is quite often cheaper than fresh but frozen meals are more expensive than making your own ready meals.
Enjoy the rest of your half term.

Thanks Milann :). I've made an appointment to have the blood tests next week.

We bought lots of frozen vegetables which are cheap, but vegetarian burgers, sausages, pies, etc, are more expensive than vegetables, although I got the Mr T brand rather than the more expensive Linda M or Qu0rn versions. We just bought normal stuff like baked potatoes, sweet potatoes, value baked beans, tinned value tomatoes, value tea bags, brown rice, milk, etc. Some items are value, others I know are more expensive like frozen sweet potato chips.
The trolley was full though which is always a bad sign. I've just counted and there are 107 items on the receipt . So just over a pound per item which isn't too bad surely?

    Debt in July 2017 = £58,766 😱 DEBT FREE 31 OCTOBER 2017 :T 🎉
    EMERGENCY FUND 1 = £50/£5,000. EMERGENCY FUND 2 = £10/£5,000.
    CHRISTMAS SAVINGS = £0/£500. SEF = £1,400/£12,000 PREMIUM BONDS ME = £350. PREMIUM BONDS DH = £300.
HOLIDAY MONEY = £0 TIME LEFT TO PAY OFF MORTGAGE = 5 YEARS 1 MONTHS
  • I've gone through our Mr T receipt and there are lots of items we won't need to buy next week as we're well stocked up now and the freezer and all the cupboards are full. So I'm hoping to spend only £60 next week.

We spend our EF money on the food shop today and used it to pay the mortgage this month :(. But DH has heard that a customer will pay us on Friday. We'll probably need most of that for bills so may not be able to replace any of the EF.

I also get paid on Friday but will spend my wages on £50 of premium bonds, £30 to the Christmas pot, £94 on our water bill and that will leave the exciting total of £10 which I'll leave in my account, sigh.

Thanks Beanie :). I was pleasantly surprised. He let me talk about my sore fingers and my tiredness which technically should have been two appointments.

Plus I still haven't got over the shock of getting an appointment on the same day I rang!

Yes it does :(. I always feel completely out of control when I go shopping with DH and DS1 (although it's mainly DH as he loves his food and I don't really care what I eat).

It's good to have a supply of dry/tinned goods. I should do the same. You never know when you might be unable to get out and about or just need to 'eat from stores'

Well done for seeing the GP and having such a positive outcome.

Have a relaxing evening now you are not hostessing :)

I wore fingerless gloves today to walk to Pilates and I've been wearing them indoors to type my assignment! Warm socks will definitely keep you warmer. Do you have warm blankets to snuggle under on the sofa?
I started wearing my fingerless gloves indoors today. I also found some slippers at last. Getting cosier. i will save getting socks until Christmas when they are always on sale. I might get some leg warmers too. I saw them last year. They are cashmere and I thought they were too pricey but I can offset that against not putting the heating on as early :)
