. I hope that's all it is. Sometimes I worry that they don't think I'm any good
. Although I enjoy the job so much and do the very best I can and I feel as though I do do a good job. But maybe I'm just deluding myself
.
Well, looking in from the outside I'd say your train of thought that they don't think you're any good is way off the mark.
They're happy to have you volunteering in school and even though an extra pair of hands is always helpful, not all hands are actually helpful and can be more of an hindrance, so I think you've proved your worth there.
You applied for a job and you got it :j
They've asked you to cover some classes already - can't remember whether that was voluntary or paid - but either way it was you they approached.
And you've been asked by the Deputy to cover a class for pay.
If your Headteacher is anything like mine was, they'll think it's all sorted and suddenly remember they've not actually confirmed anything.xx

Thank you TF2
. They did ask me to do three paid sessions last term to cover PPA (but only because half the school was off sick
). Mind you I wasn't qualified then so maybe having my level 2 will help.
Whenever I've asked the deputy head if it would be useful for me to volunteer for an additional session she's always said yes that I would be useful, so I suppose she could have said they didn't need me.Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Stop worrying!! (as if that could actually ever happen). Any head who has TA & a teacher in tears has far bigger problems than who is going to fill in if they think it may already be sorted. This is a case of being taken for granted (provided it stays in the short term) can be a good thing.0

The head teacher finally asked me officially to do the cover :j:T:j:T:beer:.
I've had a busy day today! I went to my first tutorial for my level 3 this morning. Same provider but a new tutor and new class mates. It's similar material but at a higher level and a lot more in depth. I'm expecting it to be interesting and useful too, but I'll have to spend a lot more time on my assignments!
We finished early luckily, so I dashed off to school, had half an hour in the classroom, then ate my lunch, (while I was eating the deputy told me she'd reminded the head about the cover) then I did my lunchtime job. After that finished I went in the staffroom for a drink and the head was alone in there and that was when she asked me to do the cover :T:T:T.
Things are finally going my way. I suggested to the head that I shadow the current TA for a day so I know what she does and get to know the children, so she said good idea and to arrange it with the TA. So I spent the afternoon with the class that I'll be doing the cover with. I'm going to spend two days a week there until the TA has her operation. Thirty more names to learn . They seem like nice children and the teacher is lovely so I think it's going to be a great experience for me, plus a bit of extra money before Christmas
.
I'm exhausted now, but it's a good kind of exhaustion because I feel happy.
I hope everyone has had a good Friday.

Thank you for saying such nice things DIA. I do lack confidence in the job market because of being self employed and working from home for 20 years, plus I didn't exactly cover myself in glory in the office jobs I had pre children
. But this is the first career I've had that I've actually enjoyed
.
