  • Well done on getting the enrolment done and dusted and for passing the entrance assessment:beer:. Good thinking on your part for realising that the maths assessment might involve some areas that you'd forgotten and that you took the trouble to revise them. I've tried to keep up with my maths, although I hated it at school and always found it my worst subject:(. Differential Calculus used to give me sleepless nights:eek:. Thank goodness I scraped 'O'level so I could forget all about being tested in maths:j. Strangely, any maths I've needed to do since, either in my work or just in life hasn't caused me the same sort of problems that school maths used to do.

I couldn't for the life of me work out volumes using pi though. Not sure I ever could;).

Will the course to reach Level 3 be a year like the last one you did, or is it longer?

Thanks Scrimpness :). I remembered that I had to do a maths test last time and I had a horrible suspision that it might have involved averages, pi, etc . I should revise my maths more often but I never seem to find the time :o. I have English O'Level at grade A and an English A'Level and I passed my Level 2 Functional Skills Maths, but they still insist on testing everyone in maths and english .

I'm hoping I may be able to complete the Level 3 course in six months like I did the Level 2, but I won't know until I go to my first tutorial and get the course schedule.

  • I've enrolled for my Level 3 Teaching Assistant course :T :T :T.

I did well in the English test and well enough in the Maths and ICT test to enrol. It's lucky I did the revision though as I had to calculate the volume of something using pi, as well as problems using fractions, percentages, conversions, working out the mean of something, etc . I would have done really badly if I hadn't revised some of the basics! Then I filled in a load of forms. So all I need to do now is turn up for the first tutorial later this month :).

Tecnically I'm no longer debt free as I've had to apply for an advanced learner loan of £2,500 to pay for the course. But I'm not going to worry about that as I won't have to pay it back until I earn £17,000 and I doubt I would ever earn that much as a teaching assistant.

I'm really glad the enrolment is over with, although I don't really know why I was so worried about it :o. I feel tired after the first aid training I guess, plus all the emotional stuff I dealt with over the holidays is very draining :(.

Since getting home I've rung the training place to give them my national insurance number, ironed trousers and a top for school tomorrow, hung up the laundry I washed earlier and put away the Mr T delivery that arrived.

So I'm all ready for my first proper day at school tomorrow now. I hope everyone has had a good Tuesday :).

Really well done on the tests, and for having the nous to revise first !

Hope tomorrow goes well, and you just slot into the new term easily.

  • My first proper day at school and I enjoyed it :). The dynamic is different when the children are back, more frenzied but more fun. The new class I volunteer with seem nice children and my new lunchtime class seem fine (apart from two who I had to tell off a lot!). The hardest thing is going to be trying to learn 60 names :rotfl:. It was a bit chaotic in the dining room despite reception children not starting until next week, so I dread to think what it will be like on Monday .

I feel shattered now though. I was hoping to come home and relax apart from a bit of ironing, but I've had a letter from the training provider saying I've been accepted on the course and I need to apply for my advanced learner loan. I don't have to do it today, but I need to do it very soon and I'd like to get it over with. I have to borrow £2225 :( but it can't be helped and it's for a good cause.

It's lovely sunshine today so I hope it lasts. I feel like I've had a good day so far and school has given me something positive to think about so that I don't obsess over sad thoughts.

Thanks Beanie :). Yes there's going to be a lot of "Hey you with the glasses!" and "Girl with the pony tail!" until I learn their names :rotfl:. It doesn't help that they're all dressed the same!

The training people were quick but they want their money I guess.
