  • Your old rucksack is probably worn out by all the items carried to the charity shop. You are doing so well with all that’s going on. Hang in there. My two periodically holiday together and it makes me happy too.

I'm sorry about the house being sold, that must be a huge emotional rollercoaster as well.

Enjoy visiting your dad though. I hope that it helps give you some time away to think and when you come back you will have a quieter house! Think of some of the money saved on the food shop with them being on holiday and you away. That will be great x

Thank you INOD :). It is nice that they want to go on holiday together and I'm pleased that they asked DS1 too. DS2 and DS3 went on holiday together last summer too.

Thank you Sunshine :). I'll have two weeks holiday left when I get back from my Dad's so that will give me time to de-clutter and clean the house, plus have a few days out with DH and DS1.

Thank you Nicnak :). I do feel sad about my Mum's house being sold and the DC are sad too. DS3 said maybe he could buy it back one day :(.

It will be easier for DH while I'm away as DS2 and DS3 will be away too, so there will be less housework and cooking to do. As you say our food bill will also be cheaper :)

Just catching up so I'm behind sorry :o

On the stepdad front - as I said in PM it is hard. When my Dad died my mum met her new partner (now husband) in less than 6 months. She then moved in and had 'our' house on the market and it sold near enough straight away. So in less than 12 months she'd lost my Dad, met someone new, moved in with him and sold the house. They where married 4 months after the house sale. It's 10 years since my Dad died and I guess I'm still uneasy about it. I am civil with him and always have been but he just can't replace the empty space. BUT it does get easier to feel more comfortable at family occasions etc. I think you are handling it brilliantly and a lot better than I did/would.

I hope you manage to have a lovely time away and hope DS's do too

    Take care
    x
