  • Thank you Nicnak :). Yes it does seem very sudden, but the house can't be sold until it's been de-cluttered a bit so it will probably go on the market in the spring :(.

Morning HHD :) Lovely that your sister was able to fly back with you for a few days so you got some extra time together.

Oh my, it seems to be one emotional thing after another doesn't it. :( Do you think of the house as the 'family home'? It's a lot to process so I hope you're being extra kind to yourself and not bottling things up. xx
  • What a lot you are having to deal with. Sending hugs xx

It’s good you’ll get some of your mums things and furniture. In one respect I think it’ll be better them moving to a different home as you won’t be seeing a lady in your mums house. I wouldn’t have like to see my dads 2nd wife in our family home.
Take some time to chill and enjoy your time off.

You poor thing Hairy - more emotions being stirred up!:(

You will make space for your mum's things though and be reminded of the happy times when you walk through your home.

I agree with milann about seeing another woman in your mum's house. My sister and I definitely would not have liked it! It will be a fresh start for all when your SD moves.

    Hugs x

Thank you TF2 :). I do think of it as my second home (or I did) as my mum and stepdad lived there for over thirty years :(.

Thank you Milann :). I think you're right that it would be upsetting for stepdad's fiancee to be living in my mum's house :(.

I've been feeling very emotional today. I knew the emotion would hit me when my sister left and it has. I miss my sister and knowing my mum's house is to be sold is upsetting. Even though I know it's for the best now that stepdad's getting married, it was my mum's home for over thirty years and another link to the past that I'm losing. I'm glad I have the things that I asked for though. DH and I hung up a couple of her paintings today and are using her coffee tables (as we didn't have any) and it reminds me of her.

I'm going away again on Saturday to visit my Dad in Bedfordshire, so although I'm looking forward to seeing him, I'm leaving DH and the DC again :(. Also DS2 and DS3 are going abroad together the day after me, so I'll worry about them of course :o. It's lovely that they get on well enough to holiday together though :). They asked DS1 to come too but he doesn't have a passport.

So there's lots of things going on at the moment which are making me feel emotional. I shall be glad to get back to my normal routine.

Today I've been washing and ironing everyone's clothes for me and DS2 and DS3 to pack. I feel really tired too but that may be all the emotion causing that.

I hope everyone is having a good week :).

On the money front I kept spends low while I was in Scotland. We ate meals at my sister's house or took picnics with us, so we only bought the occasional slabs of cake ;) and cups of coffee. We only did free activities like walks. I did spend about £25 on holiday presents for DH, the DC and stepdad, but it was a very low budget holiday overall.

I had a £5 PA survey yesterday which I'm pleased about so I'll cash that when it clears :).

DH and I went to Mr T yesterday and spent about £80 on the week's food shop.

I nipped into town this morning to drop off yet more clutter. I returned two skirts and got the money back, and only spent £7 (reduced from £12) on a new rucksack as mine was getting worn out.
