Malwarebytes query

This morning when I clicked on the Malwarebytes icon to do a scan it said that my version was out of date and I needed to install the latest one.
I duly did this, but now it is called Malware trial version 3.2.2. so does this mean it isn't free anymore? Should I delete it and try and find a free version?
Many thanks.

I am in the same boat as you but my trail ends today and I have no intention of upgrading.
I think if I don't upgrade it will just put me on the free version but I will let you know.
P.S Later posts answered the OP's question much better than my reply!0 -

Probably missed the box to untick that installs the full version trial? Usually right at the end where it asks '|Launch now'.Move along, nothing to see.0

Have they removed the option to decline the programme update and simply update the database?0

Go to My Account and there is an option to deactivate the premium trial and it will revert to malwarebytes free edition.0

The last couple of times I've had to install a new version it gives the upgraded version on a free 14 day trial but just reverts to the free version after that if you don't upgrade to the paid version.0

Thank you to the OP and those who have replied so far . I've been driven to distraction for over a week by the update message . Tried all the usual logical steps and still can't find whether this is still free or not .
I've searched for a reason why an updated version may be required and can't find anything . I'll follow this thread for a few days and hope someone can clarify the situation .

The paid for version does have the advantage of running in the background and checking files and web sites in real time, however, like AV programs, it’s only as good as the latest update.
However, despite the hype from Malwarebytes, it failed to pick up the malicious payload in CCleaner until the day after it was publicised in the media. So much for it being proactive!0 -

Yes during the 14 day trial you get daily warnings of how many days are left.0
