NPower Estimated Bill

If you'v e not paid a bill for 20 months then it's also likely that your balance includes collections charges, so the £150 pcm wouldn't be correct.
The terms and conditions under section 8a say that unless you have a working smart meter you must supply a meter reading every 6 months to ensure accurate billing. A lot of people overlook this and in doing so get estimated bills then blame the supplier. I think the best you can hope for is to get a payment plan setup over 12 - 18 months to pay it off.0 -
Thank you for your help.0

Update; I've decided to bite the bullet and just get this paid off.
I have a number of creditors, each of which has accepted my proposal for a small monthly payment based on what I can afford to pay. I contacted NPower, who said the best they could offer me was £80.00 a month, which is far more than I can afford.
They said I'd have to contact the Citizens Advice Bureau, who would go through my income / expenditure and would contact NPower on my behalf. I asked if we could go through my income / expenditure with NPower directly and they said no. I have contacted Citizens Advice, who say I have to come in, in person. I don't have time for this.
Can anyone offer me any advice as to the best way forward?0 -
Start with a SOA as on the Debt board.
Then make time and go to the CAB - that will be a good investment.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
I have all that. All other creditors have gone through my income / outcome but NPower say they'll only deal with the CAB. I don't need to speak to CAB, as I know exactly where I stand with them. My problem is getting NPower to listen. I just wondered if anyone had any advice with regards to that. Thank you0

npower have a department called "Affordable Solutions" who usually go through income / expenditure with customers to determine how much they can afford. Their direct number is 0800 975 9065, 8-8 Mon-Fri and i think 8-6 Saturdays.
It's a lengthy call but it is what their staff are trained to do in that team. You shouldn't really be fobbed off to CAB as they're a third party and the agreement and arrangement is between you and npower.
There's also a debt charity called Step Change, who specialise in helping people manage their debts. https://www.stepchange.org0 -
Thank you, that's really helpful.
I have contacted StepChange and I have everything in place, I just need to agree this with NPower so I can move forwards.
Thanks again for your help.0 -
Update - I'm still no further forward with this.
I have a full income / expenditure report I've compiled, and all my other creditors have agreed to. I have contacted NPower on the details above, and was told that they can't accept any sort of proposal unless "it is on headed paper from a debt company". When I asked what this meant, they said "someone like StepChange or the CAB".
I literally do not have any time to go to CAB. I'm working 14 hour days in order to earn enough to keep myself afloat.
My next option is to contact Step Change, and request the contact NPower with my Income / Outgoings... I'm not sure if they'll do this but I can but try, unless anyone has any other suggestions.0 -

The only issue with that even if Step Change do contact npower is that npower will refuse to correspond with them based on the fact they're not named on your account as a delegated authority. So it would get long winded.
The best way to go about it is ask Step Change to send you a copy of the details you gave them and the income / expenditure they went through with you. You can then forward that on to npower and then there should be no excuses for them to not accepted it.0 -

You'd probabaly be better off seeking advice on the Debt Free Wannabe Board over your debt issues (especially if you have no time to contact the CAB)
