The £150 PCM is me estimating what they've estimated each month, based on the total amount of apx £3,000 they've charged me.

so are you saying you've not had a bill for 20 months?

No, I received many bills but didn't pay them. I'm now trying to sort the situation out as best I can. I don't dispute I owe them money and I recognise I should have taken meter readings. My question is that I dispute their estimated readings as I can't see how they've guessed £150 PCM for a 2 bedroom apartment. I don't know whether I have a leg to stand on as I didn't take meter readings.

How can you dispute the estimates when you didn't bother to read the meters or pay the bills.

You haven't any more idea of how much you've used than they do. seems to me that you've had a long term interest free loan and it's now time to pay up

Perhaps you should take that as a lesson for the future.

If you received "many bills" ...... look at those bills and see if they average out at £150pcm (please don't tell me you threw the bills away ... I'd cry!!)

If they do average out at £150pcm, then NPower have a reasonable case .... if they are less (£Xpcm), and in the region per month that you think is reasonable, then you have a good case of saying "Isn't £Xpcm what you were asking for before, why has it gone up to £150pcm?".

    Thanks for your help.

As I've said earlier, I am not disputing this is my doing, and I can assure you I have learned my lesson. Not that it's relevant, but I was under severe stress for a long period of time and buried my head. I can't do anything about that now - all I can do is get this sorted as best I can and move forwards from there.

Sadly, I don't have any bills.

My original query was that I found the estimated bills of approximately £150.00 PCM for a 2 bedroom flat quite expensive. This is based on what I have paid in the past.

I then asked if there was any way I could dispute this.

As I don't have meter readings or any previous bills, it looks like I can not - which is understandable - but I thought I'd ask as obviously I don't want to pay more than I have to.

Thank you for your help so far.

Don't beat yourself up too much ... we all make mistakes ... whether in the region of Power bills or elsewhere.

My last resort would be to ask NPower to provide you with an itemised bill that include the (estimated?) meter reading and date they are starting their bill from and the (estimated?) meter reading and date they are finishing their bill on. Then try the ombudsman with all the details. In the meantime I'd make some sort of plan as to how you will pay that bill if you loose and think yourself lucky if you win!

    Good Luck!

Why can you not go to your old apartment, knock on the door, explain your situation, ask the current resident to read the meter and tell you the reading? So they might not be in, so try again at different times of the day. Gasp! Actual, real-life contact with someone you don't know and cannot contact over the internet! Shock, horror! Guess what? It's the way we used to do things before the internet was invented.

Or you can just suck it up, read meters, send monthly readings to your supplier and pay bills on time in future.

As I've said earlier, I realise I've made mistakes, I'm just trying to get this resolved. Thanks for your input.
