So why are we still using them?
Just because a group of probably pro “EU car makers” politicians decide to come up with a test to make there cars look good?
If the mpg figures don’t match you can bet the CO2 doesn’t either.
No I wasn’t !!!!ed as in drunk, rather as in annoyed.
Oh, right. Sorry, used to British standard '!!!!ed off' rather than US English '!!!!ed'.
And we use them because they are directly comparable - that's the idea. Plenty more information on Google.0 -
Test A - 'Urban'. Start car from cold, drive a slow, start/stop route. Test B - 'Extra Urban' - immediately after 'A' (so with a warm engine), drive a faster route with less stopping and starting.
The third number you get then, is simply the 'Combined' figure.
Your route, how you drive etc will affect your MPG. Compare your car against the official figures. If what you get is closest to the 'Urban' figure, don't go thinking you'll get the 'Extra Urban' in another car.
Fair enough, the test has been around for a while and the manufacturers may have got better at getting a good score in the test, which may not be reflected in the real world, but it's still a realistic comparison between models.0 -
any progress with resolving this?0
