  • Glad your exams are over and you did well on some :).

You can focus on DS and sorting out your money now, but you are doing the right thing to study as you will undoubtedly get a better paid job afterwards. And you have learnt to budget :).

Thank you Hairy, I'm actually feeling really excited for uni tomorrow which is a huge turn around from how I was feeling just a month ago. I have new lecturers for all but one of my new modules too so the unsupportive one won't be teaching any of these ones.

I am getting there with my budgetting, I've realised that the majority of my overspends recently have come from a lack of planning or not sticking to a plan I have previously made so I need to get on top of that.

Going to list some of the things I have to sell on ebay over the next few weeks and clear out my spare room as it is currently full of stuff that needs to go. I'm feeling really restless about everything at the moment so I am going to make the most of it and get on top of everything.

  • Sounds like some good plans :)

I thought once exams were over and the new term began that I would have a little more time to myself but at the moment I really don't. I have so much to do and no time and my timetable isn't in full swing until next week! Roll on Easter when I will have 3 weeks off and I will be a step closer to being debt free (trying not to wish my life away).

As my timetable isn't as full this week I only have a 50 minute tutorial tomorrow so I have decided that I will do the tutorial at home and catch up on a lot of things that need catching up on. It seems crazy to leave the house straight after the school run and not get home until around 11.30 when I could use that time more wisely.

To do tomorrow (in order of priority)

    CO tutorial
    Order 2 birthday presents
Return a top I bought in the sales with my treat money
Washing - as much as I can manage
Ironing - huge pile building up
    Clean the house
    Run minimum of 1 mile
    Look over finances
Start to clear the spare room
    Ebay listing
    RA tutorial
    Complete surveys for birthday fund

I'm stressed just typing that list!

On the debt front, I am £15 away from clearing 30% of my debt, its so hard not to pay it off so that I can colour the box in on my % sheet but I can't leave myself too short and once we get to 1st Feb I will be able to clear another 1% box anyway.

  • You're doing really well on the debt front, only £15 away is frustrating but you'll soon get there :).

I really like the sound of that ladymay, especially as DS won't be here.

Next Thursday I will go up to 31% cleared but only £11 off 32%, I think I will have to leave it until my CC payment comes out on 15th though. With paying off the more expensive loan and with the overspends during exams I think I have around £400 to find by April. I do have this in a savings account for the SPC but I really don't want to touch that until November. Will see what I can do before then, I have plenty of time.

What a horrible day, wet and cold which means I don't want to do very much, I am going to post my to do list here and cross off as I go along to keep myself motivated.

    CO tutorial
[STRIKE]Order 2 birthday presents[/STRIKE] Ordered although one is for the sister of one of DS' school friends so who knows if she will like it, I have no clue about slightly older children.
[STRIKE]Washing - as much as I can manage[/STRIKE] One load done, another one on.
[STRIKE]Ironing - huge pile building up[/STRIKE] Done for now but will be building up again because of the above.
[STRIKE]Clean the house[/STRIKE] Four rooms down, only one to go which DS will do before bed.
    Run minimum of 1 mile
    [STRIKE]Look over finances[/STRIKE] Done
[STRIKE]Ebay listing[/STRIKE] Relisted some things that had previously not sold, need to start listing some other things to clear the spare room
    RA tutorial
[STRIKE]Complete surveys for birthday fund[/STRIKE] Hit the £20 required for PA so just waiting for it to clear. Need to try and earn around £10 in vouchers before the end of the month.
    [STRIKE]Change energy supplier[/STRIKE] Done with £80 cashback,
I now have £160 sitting pending in my TCB account.

    Tomorrow

Return a top I bought in the sales with my treat money
Start to clear the spare room
    Run minimum of 1 mile
    Surveys
Change the way you see things and the things you see will change

Well posting my list here has certainly helped motivate me! Have a few things pushed back for tomorrow but I have done much more than I thought I would do. Going to do the uni work this evening once DS is asleep along with the run.

DS asked for lasagne for dinner tonight which means I will need to buy some mince, I thought I had some in the freezer but I haven't. I like making lasagne though and one lot of mince will do 3 meals for the two of us so its a good value meal and it stocks the freezer for those days where I can't be bothered to cook.

I counted up the money I have for the SPC, I want it to be a huge surprise when I have lots of money come November but I just can't help myself, I suppose it does help me keep less money in the house as once I hit a certain amount I always take it to the bank to keep safe, anyway I currently have £612! This money is going towards the overpayment although I will also give 10% to me as a treat fund and 10% for DS for whatever he might need come November, if he doesn't need anything then it will go into his account. The money in there so far has come from surveys, sales and me putting some in there every now and again.
