Requested settlement figures for my 2 loans to check against my previous workings out. One of them has come back wrong as it hasn't deducted the last payment and I have a feeling it has added 2 months interest rather than just 1 (it has only just come under 12 months remaining so this is probably why). Have requested another one as I will be able to clear one of them in a few days time (finally!), I will have to call them to settle it anyway so if the figure is still wrong then I can query it then.

I'm doing ok on the debt front, 2% paid off so far in the last week, when I clear my loan that will take a good 21% off the total. I have created a page in my finance book for colouring in squares each time I clear 1%, I am very eager to get them all coloured in!

Colouring in is a great visual thing to do. It also shows progress, which I think we often need to see. x

  • Happy new year DFD. I understand your impatience to get the debts paid, but you are on the right path and will feel amazing once you've paid off one of your loans :).

It's a good idea to build up your social life as it will make you happier, as long as it doesn't increase your expenses too much. I agree that you should step back from the person who just wants to be a friend, otherwise you are just torturing yourself.

I'm really looking forward to colouring in 21 squares Nicnak. I learn better from seeing something so hoping it will have the same effect on me seeing the 1%'s disappear.

Thank you Hairy, I can't wait until I can pay it off, I'm expecting a message tomorrow to say that my finance is on the way so it should arrive by 6th. If not I will start to panic as my rent is due on 10th! I think building up my social life probably will end up increasing my expenses but I will actively try and keep this to a minimum, I used to see one of my friends for lunch each week until I went back to uni and was in every day, I am hoping my new timetable will give me some space to start doing this again, even if it is every other week or so. I have also been taking a step back from him, I think I will still spend some time with him, maybe every other week rather than almost weekly, but I will cut down contact in the space between us not seeing one another. Its just difficult because I still feel like I don't have answers to some of the questions I asked about why he thought friends was the best way forward. He also left it quite open by saying things like 'maybe in the future'. Anyway enough about that, looking ahead and focusing on debt, studying and DS.

The last few weeks I really haven't felt 100%, tired all the time, a cough that won't go away that leaves me feeling breathless and I have been quite snappy with people. I know that I need to take better care of myself and that if I go to the doctors they will just tell me to improve my lifestyle but I currently have no motivation to do it, I really need to give myself a good kick! On the plus side, feeling like this has resulted in no spending so far this year.

    Today

Bed by 12pm at the very latest
    Do some exercise
    Finish one assignment
    Eat two actual meals
    Drink more water
Change the way you see things and the things you see will change

Drinking water is a big thing to help change, but it is so hard to do and keep doing. Good luck with it.

Hope you start to feel better soon. x

Thank you Nicnak, I suspect that I might have a chest infection so I will try again to get in at the doctors tomorrow, did try today but no luck.

I used some of my vouchers today to buy a birthday present for one of my friends, it cost a small fortune but I can make this up once exams are over, as long as I still achieve the amount I need for a bed for DS and other presents along the way then I am happy. Even if I have to put some towards the bed, its still better than having to find the whole amount in time for his birthday.

Edit - I changed the present to something half the cost.

Had the message to say my student finance will be with me within 3 days, I feel like a kid at Christmas, so excited to pay off one of the loans. I am still a little undecided which one I will pay off though.

Haven't made much progress today, I just feel awful. I thought I just had a cough but it is getting worse and worse. I did manage to get myself out the house earlier on which meant that I spent some of my budget, went to top up on food and treated DS a little because he has been wonderful.

Bed by 12pm at the very latest - I am feeling shattered so this will definitely happen
Do some exercise - I got out the house which was more than I have done in a few days, I was going to attempt a small run but with this cough I really don't think its a good idea so I will see how I feel tomorrow.
Finish one assignment - Have made progress on this, I am probably about 2/3's of the way through it
Eat two actual meals - Done although one of them didn't stay down thanks to a bad coughing fit
Drink more water - Going to continue drinking water this evening

    Tomorrow
Check if finance is through, if so pay off loan
    Eat 2 proper meals
    Doctors if still feeling bad
    Finish assignment
    Revise
