Hi There
I am looking for some advice on my recent motor penalty
I went to a town not far from me and use it to go shopping a couple of times a year. Anyway, the car park that i have always used now has a number plate recognition system. I did not notice this at all. I have since been back and the cameras are super small, and the signs are not yellow or red but blue. something i did not see as a warning, i am also badly colour blind so i look for patterns on signs, like checked or warning signs. Nothing of the like. they didn't catch my eye at all the first time. Anyway, after three hours of parking you get a ticket that is £60
I do not have a blue badge, although I am physically disabled. I had a freak accident in January which broke a nerve in my quadriceps, so i find it very difficult to walk at the best of times. Anyhow, that day we had gone for a longer walk up to town and it was because we walked quite far that i had to keep resting which resulted in quite a long time parking. however i did not know i was going to be penalised.
so my question is, despite not having a blue badge, something i am in the process of applying for, and being physically disabled (with a letter form my doctor stating this, for the DVLA originally) am i able to have this quashed? or shall i just pay it?
To make matters worse I have only just seen the letter. i live in a block of flats and the original was swept amongst the big pile of leaflets etc. I have just received a final demand and it is £100. the original is £60, however i didn't see the original letter. Can i get to pay £60 instead of £100 because of this? do i have to pay at all? I think it is despicable that a company can simply automatically charge you £60 after three hours, when i would happily pay £5 to park for three hours. utter disgrace.
thanks in advance
Jim

Ask a board guide to move your post to the correct part of the forum as above.0

It sounds like a private(supermarket?) car park; I had a ticket a few months back, I didnt make any excuses, I just paid up. Because there were signs.
Private companies are sometimes lenient on blue badge holders, but you don't have one, so maybe you should just pay up?0 -

Your prerogative to pay, but there is so much wrong with this post that it's hard to know where to start.0 -

You stayed in a car park for longer than you should, surely you knew you were doing this? Or at least knew you were being a bit cheeky?“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Whilst i appreciate your input I must say your post does not make logical sense. If i had known that there was a charge of £60 why would i have stayed longer than this? Do you honestly believe that people see the charges, then go through all the effort to stay over, get a ticket and then spend hours of their own time to get out of it? the car park had never had a charge before.0 -

I don't stay in a car park without checking the "small print".
"Assume nothing for assumption is the mother of all ***ups"
Your post suggested you knew the time limits, 3 hours is also an awful long time to spend in a car park, you suggested you knew it would cost £5 to stay this long, but did not pay this.
I do feel that your post is somewhat heavy on the emotional content and I could simply be misreading it, in which case I apologise for the confusion.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
