Unwanted window takes over android screen

  • Might it be residing in The Cloud, thus even a factory reset will reinstall the problem app? Might also have a look in "Extensions" to make sure it isn't there.

Thanks for replying Gravedigger. Would you be able to tell me how I can locate The Cloud and Extensions, please. Are they also- I cannot see them listed, thank you.

When does this window appear? When using certain apps or when using the browser app?

Thanks very much for replying, forgotmyname. The window appears when I am browsing. Yesterday I was logged in to my eBay account using Chrome browser on my Samsung Tablet.

I was not able to log out and was forced to close the tablet. I'm really glad of any advice, thank you. I'm concerned in case serious damage is or has been caused and, so far, the factory resets have not helped. - sorry as I thought I had lost the reply and posted twice - apologies.

Yesterday it appeared when I was logged into my eBay account using Chrome browser on my tablet. It was impossible to log out and I had to close the tablet. I went on via my laptop go make sure I was logged out of eBay.

I have now done three factory resets. What 'signs' should I be looking for regarding any harm this adware has done, please? I have disabled Chrome and One drive (but I think they do not stay disabled and cannot be uninstalled) and I have installed Firefox.

Although I would be disappointed I wonder if I may have to abandon my tablet for safety reasons. I'm very glad of any advice, thank you.

    Open chrome.
    Browse to this location :-

    chrome://settings/resetProfileSettings

    Then click the reset button.
Looks like this is being caused by a dodgy addon or similar

Can't help much on specifics, but can with fault finding. You're right that you'll only be able to 'disable' Chrome instead of uninstalling. You've installed Firefox. Keep using your tablet as normal, except for browsing you're on Firefox instead of Chrome. If the message doesn't come up again, at least we've isolated the problem to Chrome...

Thanks very much AndyPix. I'll need to take brave pills before I touch Chrome. I do sincerely appreciate your helpful replies, thank you.

I have only just learned that my tablet is still in warrenty - I just need to find the receipt in case I need it.

Warrenty wont help with a software problem.

The reason why this keeps coming back is it is pulling it from your chrome profile.

Do the above and it will be fine

Thank you very much almillar. Because I have just learned that my tablet is still in warranty (provided I can find the receipt) I believe I may be able to take it to an approved place for repair or return to Samsung for repair.

I really do appreciate all the help on this forum - very much, thank you.

^^ There is nothing to repair, it's just some dodgy software - we will help you sort it ..
