Credit Card Reclaiming Discussion

  • I tried searching for this and expect its been answered before but couldn't find anything myself so apologies in advance if this is a common question

I used to have problems with over limits, now I'm ok I want to try the reclaim thing but I've binned all records of some accounts I used to have

for example I had a tesco credit card, I had a couple with capital one and citicards and an american express. Now I have only got mbna but I even had closed mbna cards I don't know the account number for. Also the tesco was provided by RBOS I think like how mbna provide many others cards.

I've not moved house in 15 years so I intend to write to each dataprotection dept for the lenders I've had dealings with.

when I send me first letter can I just say any and all records relating to me?

can I say any and all records for cards you provided for 3rd party? IE tesco being RBOS I think.

    thanks for any help
  • ok i found this thread which answered my original question about not knowing the account number

    http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=443765

and I read in other threads about tesco people going for RBS as they supplied the card

next question If I can't even remember some of the lenders is the best way to see what I've done send a data protection request to equifax and experian for my full credit history?
  • does anyone know if it is possible to reclaim the cash advance charges incurred on halifax credit cards?? i regularly recieve them even though i pay off my card in full each month?

No - they are a published tarriff for a specific service.

Why do you use your credit card for withdrawing cash anyway?

  • You can claim back overlimit fees and late payment fees only.

  • Hi folks.
Some great advise on this forum.

Please can you tell me do I need to send a seperate letter( per account) and £10 for each when sending out the 1st letter or can I put multiple account numbers on the one letter?
I have 6 accounts with MBNA that I want to claim charges back.
    Thanks
  •  I just heard from my local court that the judge has ordered that my case against barclaycard for credit card charges be stayed pending the result of the test case. I thought that it was only the decision on bank charges that were on hold waiting the result of the test case? Could someone please confirm this for me please........
  • Hi, Sorry if this questions been asked before!

I would like to relaim my charges on credit cards I've previously had but closed the accounts. Can this be done, even if I dont know the account numbers?

Also, to make it more difficult I've also moved house, so my current address doesnt match the records they will have.

    Can anyone help please??

    Hi hoose
The credit card company will still have all your details, you will probably have to send them proof of your old address, I've read of other people claiming succesfully on this forum for closed accounts, so start with a phone call to the credit card company.
    Hope this helps
