If you return from Thailand at 06:20 in the morning and don't want to, or can't do a good afternoon nap then an 18.50 flight arrival in the evening may be preferable.

Late check out opportunities can be good sometimes in the Far East.

Consider beach first then Bangkok, and the other way round and what may work best for you.

Btw in Bangkok there are a number of sky bars on the top of hotels for sunset drinks, including non-alcoholic, some couples really enjoy this.

Covered it earlier when discussing possible locations to stay. They'll be walking distance from the relatively expensive Sky Bar at Lebua.

I'm thinking a sunset Bangkok sky bar visit might be a good way to end the holiday before flying home, it is this context that I'm mentioning sky bars, when considering how the OP wants to do this trip.

Hmmmm.....you mean spend six nights chilling out on the islands to prepare themselves for the frenetic city experience?
Not out of the question if they are big shoppers and don't want to carry their shopping around with them. Therefore preferring to do it on the last days of their holiday.

Dining on the beach is also quite romantic. Whatever suits. But I wouldn't shift the holiday the other way around so as to have the rooftop bar as the last thing to do before flying home.
Perhaps before flying to the beach the next day. :)

I went out on a date with a girl who had ice cream as her first course.

It's their holiday, so they should shape it they way that they want it.

We are only here to guide them :)

lol.....yep that told me...haha. OK OK point taken. I do have confidence in booking as I do usually book all my own trips - that said, I'm also going to Las Vegas in May and currently trying to price that up as well. I think thats why I just want easement somewhere, but I hear all what you are saying and go back to the basics...I wouldnt actually mind a break in the long flight - sitting on a plane that long will be hard to bear!

I will book it all myself...(yawn) will dedicate the next few days securing the flight and like you say look at accomadation later. If I can save any money somewhere I would consider a car & maybe book a few trips Flight Centre had thier full Sales mode on today re the trips but no thank you! lol

Yes i've realised with these flights its gonna be a swings & roundabouts job. but will give all your comments some serious consideration, and I won't come back changing my mind after this serious berating....haha

    thank you

Personally, I'm not a big fan of Phuket. Most of it's character probably long gone. Now it just seems overpriced for a mediocre product.
All you can do is try to escape the exploitation.
Though if you are happy with the hotel choice of Centara Karon, Travelbag comes in at under £500 for a Superior Ocean View over six nights.
£733.31 for the Deluxe Honeymoon Spa Suite.
  • On the subject of Sky bars I thought the Octave at the Marriott Sukhumvit was nice, some good views too.

Dress code is a bit more relaxed than the Dome and happy hour is 5 -7 pm.

Stayed at the hotel as well and can generally recommend it.

Is the Centara karon a good choice then? as in quite central? Reviews seem good on Trip Advisor. Also any hotel i'm looking at will look to see if I can use any 10% off vouchers bringing the price down abit when im ready to book.

this chiang mai is also looking appealing...the more research im doing the more i see that Thailand isnt just Bangkok & Phuket...:

Eva have just launched a sale, you can get direct flights ti BKK on their Elite Class which is premium economy for £760 each for your dates.

The nornal cost would be circa £1050

Central to what? :) It's an island. You need to decide what you want from your holiday. Someone might chose to stay in Phuket Town and fan out from there. Some might want to stay near the main tourist location of Patong. Some will prefer Kata or Karon or a quiet beach or cove. Having a car allows you to explore.
That's the whole point of sorting your flights(framework) and then filling in the spaces with your own personality.
We just hopefully prevent you from making any big mistakes.

So if you want to fit Chang Mai in, then stick with the THAI flights, adjusting the dates so that you add one or two days extra to your stay in BKK.
That way you can take a side trip to CNX.

    Example:

    Savvy1.jpg
    or
    Savvy2.jpg

Of course you can adjust the BKK to HKT flight to earlier in the day and book the CNX to BKK to fit.

    For example;

    Savvy3.jpg

So the whole thing only adds £120 to the cost of the trip.
